If you need any TSS let me know I can give you the name of the guy I get mine from. You order shot from him he also shares his recipes for his loads. He recently opened up a TSS shell company called TSS Shot. I have never had any issues getting it from him. Ordered 10lbs last summer. Thanks! I talked to the guy in Argos, and he gave me a phone number to call. I did, ordered it from him and he sent it, IIRC it was around $45/lb. IIRC it was shipped from SC? He sent 3 recipes and included 10 wads in the box of shot. I got #7.5 shot, the smallest that is legal in IN. Same guy or different? 9s and 10s are legal in IN if they are TSS: www.eregulations.com/indiana/hunting/wild-turkey/

As for me, I can see going and buying a pound of #10 TSS shot this winter.
I used to shoot skeet with 1 oz of #10 lead shot and it worked extremely well!!!

Think I’ll stick with my Longbeard XR for now. Killed a fall hen at 67 yards so I’m in no hurry to try to find tss.

If I didn't have the #7.5 shot here now I'd still be using either the old Federal Copper Plated 6's or my 2 3/4" handload of 1 3/8 oz buffered #7 copper plated lead shot - that's going 1380 fps. I'm going to pattern a number of different shells once I get the TSS shells loaded, I will Pattern TSS, my handload and the Federals. I can pattern everything here in the "back yard". I'll do a 20 yd and a 60 yd pattern with all 3.

I read nothing but good things, so tried a box last year. They were great so I got 5 or 6 more. My pattern testing was in the 60 some yard range and I was satisfied there. My normal load of #5 Rem Nitros was great at 40yd, but iffy at 45, and gone at 50yd. Thats all I have used up to this point and have had great success. Only last year I lost several opportunities at 55yds I wasnt confident in. That made the push to do something about it. The Indian Creek choke tube I got really tightened up my patterns as well. For the price point, the Longbeards are the best deal going by far.

They are #9, so werent legal LAST year, but wanted to see what all the hub bub was about. I fired one at 60yd and it is hard to believe how good the pattern density was. If knowing they were gonna be legal going forward, we would have been eating rice and beans for awhile. Lol.

Who needs tss when you got acc Congrats on the harvest! That's quite an accomplishment. I have shot at a few with a crossbow, and never recovered one. I did get a fall hen years ago with my BowTech during deer hunting. I talk with several guys online, and turkey hunting with an arrow and bhead is a love-hate thing. By far, most guys say they wont hunt them anymore with arrow due to small kill zone and low percentage recoveries. I was gung ho about using the crossbow, but now have decided the odds were too far against me, so sticking with the scattergun in spring, and save fall hunting for target of opportunity.

In honesty we (my son and I) take both our shotguns and bows hunting. Though this year we are trying a crossbow for the first time. Not my first bird I’ve killed with a bow

Deadeer,
I've killed three with a crossbow.
One died on the spot .
One went 40 yards.
One went 150 yards. Tough trailing a wounded turkey gobbler, but I got the job done.

Oh yes, can be done for sure. Not downplaying or saying cant be done. Just a LOT harder. It seems like the Excal guys get it done most! 😉 Sounds like a guillotine head is the way to go, if you can get them flying right. Or the largest expandable you can shoot accurately. Some of my contacts are in KY and TN where multiple birds are in the cards. So a scattergun helps with odds that's all. Congrats to the guys that get her done!

I got one here behind the house a number of years ago with the crossbow and a blind, using a broadhead very similar to the Swhacker. The bird went about 20 feet.
