Ok first time hunter, I want to take my 17 year old son hunting for the first time but I’m confused about the hunting laws in Yellow wood for squirrels, other places here in Indiana have a draw, is that for small game as well, does yellow wood have a draw also?? I just wanted to find a patch of public land that I could go to, make sure it wasn’t busy, during a week day, and shoot some squirrels with my son before he turns 18. Thanks for any help.

Yellowood has no draws for any hunting. It’s open to all. Go enjoy a day of squirrel hunting with your son. You should just about have the place to yourself this time of year.

I can not give you a definite answer but to my knowledge no public property has a draw for squirrels. You could possibly get ahold of your local co and ask him. He may know of some other places close and have information on weather the squirrels are pounded at yellowwood. If they are hunting will be hard as the dumb ones will be gone and all that is left are smart and will disappear at the sight of a hunter. GOOD LUCK onebentarrow

Best of luck on your squirrel hunt, and I'll offer a piece of advice. When I squirrel hunt, I see deer. When I'm deer hunting, I see squirrels. So just pretend you're deer hunting and you should see plenty of squirrels. Welcome to the forum.

I believe that the ticket to successful squirrel hunting is to act like you're deer hunting. They won't leave you alone!!
By the way, welcome to HI, dukeantonius.
