Luke and I took a trip over to Treetops place for a great visit. It was a scorcher out there and if it weren't for the breeze, we would have probably watched the water from inside. He was wanting some bass removed from his pond for maintenance, so we offered our services. Lol. Of course the host graciously shuttles the hotshot around the area in the heat, while the old man has to suffer and hoof it. Lol. Just kidding, I was offered the ride many times, I volunteered my own needed exercise. Here was the total haul out. Ended up keeping 13 total, 13-17", most 2# range and 2 near 3#. Luke put a tape and scale on each one at home. So right about 30# of fish came out, and a very nice pile of fillets taken by the Bubba cordless knife. All in all, a great trip. A big thanks to Dave for welcoming us over to bother him for the day. We have built a great friendship and we can now chalk up more fellow brother sportsman brought together by Hunt Indiana. Thanks again Jay for the brats and lunch good time for sure watching Luke kick the bass around I can’t believe we could not get any bluegill to bite I guess you’ll just have to come back this fall and try again I went back out and feed them about 7 when it cooled off some and the bluegill ate like no tomorrow I’d say we are going to have to get some of those baits that look like food Got the trout in a brine going to smoke them and warm up the cabbage for supper Luke's gonna need to make some flies that look like fish food.

A plug for Esshup I started feeding my fish with his food I started probably may June last year the bass your looking at were nothing but skinny fish they honestly weren’t even worth taking out to eat before I started feeding the smallest bass in that cooler is probably close to double the size I would of caught Jays photos don’t show it as well but those are some nice fat thick bass worthy of a oil bath Same with my bluegill they have put on the weight just a few would be a meal Yes I cringed when I looked at the price I could buy three bags at TSC and I was with no growth in my fish but if I wasn’t trying to get rid of the bigger bass to save my perch I honestly believe I could be pulling 4 to 5 lb bass out by next summer so in two years I went from 3/4 lb If you were lucky to 3 to 5 lb bass regularly

For those lilies, spray them in late September with Habitat. That should do it. Pull a single strand of the underwater plant, put it in a glass dish that has an inch or two of water in it, and a sheet of white paper under it. That will allow a good close up picture with a lot of detail to be taken. Do that and I can tell you what to use.

Two weekends left till school starts, so we're gonna go out with a bang! Got plans for a couple lakes in SW MI and the St Joe R again coming up. I have given Luke everything I got with all kinds of fishing opportunities this year, so hopefully it holds him over a little while. We will still be out a few times in the fall, then it's time for hunting season to get going.

Has good flathead too. Then there were the walleye, bass, gills, suckers, and that was when no steelhead were in the river! Good luck

Funny you mention that. When we fished out of St Pat's county park recently, we didnt do very good. The last time I was there was BEFORE the fish ladders were in and no trout/salmon were present!

Well the trout/salmon would be in that part but not when we were fishing. May have had some smooth in there but not sure

Just looked into that area. It's only 9 miles down from the Berrien Springs dam. That would have always had trout/salmon in it as theres nothing between that and Lake Michigan. Anyway, says riffles, sand bars, and boulders in there, and gets real shallow when the gates get closed. Probably better for us to steer clear and save another prop from its demise. Lol.
Will keep fishing our regular places we know more about.
Thanks for the tips and info tho!

It was a nice remote stretch. I could tell it gets hammered when steelhead are running. Pulled in lots of old line and lures with catfish gear

I would think they eat bluegills, rockbass, etc. But just guessing?

Going to some local spots today. I had a trip planned to Lake Webster for the past 6weeks. The guy I was going with backed out yesterday afternoon. Pretty bummed about it but, what do ya do. So, I figured since I took the day off to fish then, well, I'm going to fish.
Not taking the boat out anywhere. I think I want to hit a couple ponds and ditches.
Eating some breakfast now real quick then headed out to rip some lips.

Just ate some lunch and heading back out. I think I'll through my chest waders on and go fish the ditch behind my house.

Just got done for the day. I had an absolute amazing time wading the ditch. Majority of the water was knee deep. Some spots were just above my ankle while there were several holes waste deep. I was completely shocked on the number of bass I caught and the size. Most were around 1-1.5# but I caught a few 2.5-3#. one of 3 pounders was just about as long as my lower leg. The heaviest rock bass was 10oz. The stick for this afternoon was the Abu Garcia Black Maxx in 6'6" accompanied by a Black Maxx reel. The flavor of the day was the GT 360° searchbait in 2-1/2" and 3/32 oz. Colors Houdini and white. 20+ bass all together. I found one hole that I caught a baker's dozen out of. I was hoping to catch a northern but, no dice there. No complaints either since I did so well on the bass. I did see two small ones chasing some bluegill though. My TideWe waders were amazingly comfortable. Zero complaints about them. I stayed nice and dry. I took two rods and a small tackle with me. That lasted about 100 yards then I ditched one rod and the tackle. I just sort of tied my pliers to me, clipped the digital scale on my waders belt loop and stuck a couple extra lures in the chest pocket. I think my next investment will be some sort of wading vest to hold extra things. I'm assuming they make something like that anyhow. My next investment after that will probably be a divorce attorney if I keep it up! Lol! I didn't get to go the Webster Lake today but, oh well! I still had a great time fishing a couple old spots and blast doing something I had never done before. Who knew I had such great fishing in my own backyard?!
