Just a heads up for anyone who has a Nikon scope that still qualifies for their warranty. I sent one in for warranty work and it appears that if the scope can't be repaired they will send you a voucher for their website instead of a refund. And the refund will be for less than what you paid for the scope. They discontinued making scopes last year so I don't know if they don't have any parts left or if the scope wasn't able to be fixed but plan on calling today to find out. It got me thinking, can scopes even be repaired by a third party?
Also I should have a $109.95 voucher soon from them if anyone is interested in it for $100.

I wondered how issues would be handled when Nikon quit selling scopes. As I own a few Nikon scopes, I wonder if you mind answering a couple of questions.
What model scope did you send in?
Was it damaged during use?
Did it just quit holding zero and wasn't damaged through use?
Thanks in advance for your time.

I got it on sale at Cabela's early in 2018. It may have been damaged on a hunt...I slipped in some mud on a two track on a bear hunt last fall and went down on the side with the gun. I don't specifically remember hitting the scope but went to check zero this year before hunting season and it was shooting 2' high. To get 2" high at 200 I had to bottom the adjustment out. The rings are Talley 1 piece and they weren't loose. I spoke to customer service and they said once I receive the voucher to call back and ask for an increase so it will match the price I paid.

I have a 4-12x40 scope from Nikon as well. It was the same scope as the Buckmaster 2 but didn't have that name on it. I think I paid about $125 on sale for it.
Hopefully you can work it out with Nikon. I figured there would be issues once they quit selling/repairing scopes and people were still sending them in. Did they ask for a copy of your receipt?
Thanks for your time.

If I run into trouble down the road @ least I'll have an idea of what the process will be like.

This is why I mostly avoided all of the nikon clearance deals last year. I did buy a prostaff 3-9×40 because ive had good luck with those one once a year guns.

I bought a couple on clearance and for the prices I paid for them, if they crap out @ some point (which obviously can happen, but would surprise me as I've owned Nikon scopes for years and never had an issue with any of them), then I'll likely replace them with either Vortex or Leupold scopes.

I've had a couple of them and never had issues until now. I actually returned another 3x9 I had bought and exchanged it for this one since I was putting it on a .308 and wanted a little more magnification. But if you want to keep the scope it sounds like you would be better off taking it somewhere for repair and not sending it to Nikon.

I received my voucher through email and asked if I could get a full refund instead of $20 less. They asked for a copy of the receipt and my mailing address for a check. Looks like they are going to offer a full refund.
