What do you think the stage of rut is in your location here in Washington and Harrison counties does are yarding up with no bucks ;small bucks back to stolling and feeding . I’m guessing mature bucks are still in some stage of lockdown still. Of course this great Indiana weather keeps you guessing.

While loading wood this morning. I seen a small Buck run out of the woods. I them seen a decent 8pt chasing him. The 8 went right back into the woods. The small one kept trying to go back in but the 8pt was not having it. I assume he has a doe locked down in there.

It generally happens to the date every year. This year in my notes most of my buck activity was Nov 11-13th

From what I’ve seen from driving around at work more bucks with single does standing in the cut corn and beans
Last week I saw more groups of does and lone bucks running around or pushing more than one doe
My best uneducated guess they have already or will be breeding very soon This is 50 or so miles around the Fort Wayne area but like I said this is just windshield time

Peak breeding is past. Still some doe's to be bred and will be for couple months yet BUT wide spread Rut action is behind us and now we will see pockets of breeding activity. IF you have a estrous doe in area you will see good activity IF NOT going to be slow. Doe group's are yarding up in most areas and this time year it's about food. Deer are hitting what's left of acorn crop and whatever field crops are left as well as late season food plots.

It's amazing how quickly it comes and goes, every year.

I’m in Monroe county and I know from 11/7-11/10 I saw the most rut activity from the stand and driving around to neighboring properties. First year I really paid attention to it this much. It’s probably safe to say for everyone the best time to be in the stand is the week leading up to gun opener, if not the week prior to that even

Little action last week Oct. and there will be a little next few days. Then a couple week lull and then a quick burst of activity around Dec 5th -15th as doe who were not bred come back into estrous and same into Jan and Feb. with less and less doe coming into heat. That's the cycle.

Here’s my record of past years. Some years I killed maybe earlier then it might be skewed because I wasn’t in the woods as much. 2015 - I noticed a lot of activity starting Nov 3rd, I killed my buck Nov 5th so no records after that. 2016 - Nov 7th - 10th 2017 - Oct 30th - Nov 6th I killed a buck on the 6th so again nothing after that 2018 - Nov 13th - Nov 17th I killed my buck on the 13th but did hunt the rest for does 2019 - just Nov 8th - 9th

But it's not going to defer from N-S-E-₩ in Indiana by a couple days. I saw a spike chase today Whoopie... Lol. It's late in breeding cycle regardless where you are in state. Could be great if got a hot doe in area or dead that's just the reality. I've seen a buck breed a doe in Feb. but it's more the exception than rule. Science is science like it or not.

Experts say keep a log when you see a doe bred as they will come in heat same time every year within 24 hours..
