I am hunting unpressured private in central indiana. I have a good spot set up right around a fence line by a high active area for rubs and scrapes. I was wondering how do you guys approach calling unpressured deer? It's always something I have wanted to try but never had the chance to since I come from hunting pressured public where people abuse calls. I should also mention that I do have multiple mature bucks on cams. They're not too consistent yet they sort of go as they please but show up sometimes 2-3 times a week.

My advice is to not call blind. I only like to grunt at a buck I can see. Start with regular grunts if no response get a little longer and louder with your grunt. Be sure to watch the deers reaction to your calling and log it to memory of what works and what doesnt

If it hasn’t been pressured, do not call. Your advantage is slipping in and them not knowing you are there. Calling jeopardizes that.

I believe that grunting blind, and even rattling and/or using a bleat can, can and will bring deer in to investigate. I`ve actually killed deer on heavily disturbed land, i.e., the farm I`m having all the trespass issues on, by grunting and using the Primos bleat can. Nothing is a silver bullet, and things may or may not work, depending on each individual situation and circumstance. As with any and all calling, it should be used with restraint, because just as we see people driving the roads at the State Forests and calling to locate turkeys, we know this can educate game.
There have been widely accepted instances when a fawn bleat brought in mature does, searching for the origin of the distress bleat.

Seems like the camp is split, me on the other hand I keep quiet until my Remington barks. I've killed all my deer inside 10 yards. Only 1 knew I was there and that was because I was kneeling on the trail he was on. All others didn't know what even happened.
