I have just over a dozen Stalker Xtreme 400 spine 8.4 gpi arrows left. They were $60 a dozen when I got 2 dozen about a dozen years (?) ago. They were +/- 2 grains and were guaranteed 0.003" straightness and .246" id.
Now that BP owns Cabela's, they are no longer offering the SX shafts.
I should have got another 2 dozen when BP bought them, but never thought they would discontinue those arrows.
Is there anything that would be the same specs and still around maybe $70-75 a dozen for bare shafts? I'm having a hard time matching specs up and finding a price that is under $100 a dozen!
Thanks!

The Eastons are made in the USA. I've been using their Hunter shafts for a generation or so now, and have been completely satisfied with their durability and accuracy. Everyone I know who shot them while I was actively shooting 3D also found them to be very good shafts and excellent bargains. I recently caught a bunch (15) of my 340 spine at a local shop that had been traded in by the original purchaser but never cut to size or used, so I'm pretty well stocked now.

I was able to research and find that the SX shafts were Beman ICS Hunters (owned by Easton) and are now Hunter Classics. Seems over the years that what I used to give $60/dozen run about $100/dozen now.😕

The Beman ICS Patriots are also an exact match to the old SX shafts and I found shafts on clearance at Jeff's Specialty Sports. I just ordered 20 bare shafts for under $124 shipped.
Didn't think that was too terrible.
I should be well stocked for a good while now.

Nice! What head are you running up front? Slick Trick Magnum or Grizz Trick in 100 grain. Grizz Gen 2 is what I picked up last time as I found them on clearance at Walmart. I have shot the Gen 1 Grizz Tricks out of compound and crossbow and the deer don't go far! A heart after taking a quartering away Grizz from the compound. Doe dropped in 14 yards and I could see the blood pouring out.

For 3 years, I used a lightweight arrows with the 2 blade swhackers. I killed deer with them, but wasn’t getting the penetration I liked. I then switched to the muzzy trocar 3 blades. The two deer I shot with those were complete pass through and both deer ran about 60 yards before crashing. This year, I decided to try a high FOC setup like I’ve been hearing a lot about. Haven’t had the chance to test them on a deer yet, but my accuracy has improved with them. I’m running a 200 grain 3 blade solid VPA. Hopefully I can try them soon. Always fun to hear about different setups that guys are running. Good luck to you with the new arrows!

I've used nothing but fixed broadheads and have never had a problem with penetration except when hitting the offside shoulder. Usually end up with the back half of the arrow broken off in the deer when that happens.
The last deer I shot was with a 100 grain Muzzy Phantom FX. I expected to find my arrow stuck in the ground where I hit her and was surprised when I didn't. I hit a rib going in and absolutely dead centered a rib on the exit. The front half of the "rooster" vane was torn loose and I think it kept the fletchings from making a complete pass through. The arrow fell out in about 20 yards or so.
I already re-fletched the arrow and resharpened the Phantom. Going to see if I can get a third deer with that arrow without breaking it!😁

Nice! I also do not plan on using mechanicals ever again. Fixed blades just make more sense to me from what I've seen. I know there are a lot of guys who swear by mechanicals... but I'll pass.

The only place I would consider using a mechanical would be on a crossbow.
However, I got a smoking good deal on a dozen 150 grain Slick Trick XBow heads a couple years ago. Got the dozen for $60!
I still prefer taking the compound, so those XBow broadheads should last a while!
I'm actually far more steady and accurate with the compound than trying to freehand the crossbow.
