Now is the time to start looking for a taxidermist if you don't already have one. Plan ahead just in case you harvest that buck of a lifetime! Knowing what to do or not do is planning ahead not waiting till its on the ground and then wonder what do I do now. Find a reputable taxidermist before the hunt don't be afraid to ask questions, and know what you will need to do to get the best mount possible.

I use Dean Stallion of American Taxidermy in Boonville Indiana.
He has done most of my mounts. I won’t get anything but a “horn mount” unless it’s a true “whopper”. I’ve run out of wall space.

Same here for Dean Stallion......if I ever kill a deer worthy. My gun room has trifold ceilings, not a lot of places to hang shoulder mounts. Wife said no dead animals outside of the garage or gun room.

Hoosier trapper supply is my go to for taxidermy. They’ve done the four shoulder mounts and my sons piebald hide on the wall in our house.
