Have any of you fellas tried any freeze dried food?
My BIL gave me some freeze dried ice cream ...I think that's what it was. It was good.

With all the stuff going on in the world today, I see a lot is out of stock, but I've had a bunch of different meals from these guys. Haven't had anything bad yet. www.mountainhouse.com/From breakfast to dinners. When I read the title of the post I thought you were talking about Ramen Noodles. LOL

I think I ordered some survival food from Wise. I forget what I ordered until it comes in. Just got some kind of rice stuff.
Kroger was all out of chili beans. People are stocking up. I just spent over $400 at Meijer ...mostly peanut butter.
Wife thinks I've gone crazy.

I actually forgot peanut butter this trip. I'm thinking if I'm not hunting, I won't be leaving the house. Stocking up for winter.

Anybody that spends 400 on peanut butter either payed to much or is nuts Which one is it ? 100 bucks on peanut butter probably last me 5 years

The mountain house are ok I had them a few times on hunting and fishing trips cause I’m a lousy hunter and I can’t catch fish but I like to eat. Bit pricey but if your packing it In you really don’t care what you paid for it

We probably go through $100 in peanut butter every few months. It's a great low carb, high protein snack ... or meal substitute. Many nights I've had to run off to something with the kids and my dinner was a spoonful of peanut butter and an apple on the road.

When I used to hike out west I would buy the packet MRE from galyans. Beef stroganoff, chicken ala king, etc. Add water and heat up with my little stove kit. All very good!

I don't have a well, so I bought 10 big jugs of water today. Bought 4 propane tanks too. Next month, I'll really stock up.

Just remember food has a shelf life. Peanut butter goes rancid from the oil in it if stored for a long time. Canned goods, a few years then they need to be rotated out of storage. Same with bottled water. Good for a year or two, then you need to start rotating inventory and restocking. I lived in Ca. for 10 years and we had a stash for earthquake preparedness. Every year we'd rotate inventory from the stash, eating and replacing to keep the things in the stash fresh.
So, whatever you put in your stash, be prepared to throw it out in a few years and replace it or put stuff in there that you eat regularly so you can rotate it out.
Dried things last the longest, you can vac pack beans, rice, flour, powdered milk, etc. Might be a good idea to vac pack some spices, sugar and salt too.

When the virus hit early this year and grocery shelves were going bare, the things that I thought I should have is canned fruits and veggies. Hard to get those fresh when it's too cold outside to grow them.

I'm not sure there will be anything to restock with. That's very optimistic of you. I'm an optimist too; that's what scares me.
I'm expecting civil war.
