If so you could frost seed clover Yes this spring it was cut corn now it’s beans so that’s what will be left over in the spring Basically that’s what I’m hunting iis a field I’ve got just a long strip of woods more like a real wide fence row but It’s hooked to 40 or close to it and a few other woods close. I know they are there I saw them multiple times last year but they never came my way

So are you going to try and plant something in the bean/cornfield?

That’s my idea the owner said as long as crops are off I can plant what ever I want it’s a cash rent farm so he really has little say in what’s planted every year

I’ve got a small tractor and tiller but no planter so I’d have to broadcast than till or drag it

Going to be hard to get something planted and up by turkey season. You would probably have to plant in March. You could go in as soon as beans start dropping leaves and broad cast some winter wheat. I do that when the farmer plants my fields in beans, I dont know much how turkeys like it though.

I thought about planting some of that wasn’t sure if Turkeys like it one would think being green early it would attract bugs grubs and the likes

Last Fall I planted turnips and radishes, and overseeded with winter wheat/oats. There was a dry spell and the dang turkeys ate about everything before it came up. I'd plant HEAVILY with Wheat/Oats (work the ground/broadcast the seed/drag/roll to cover) as early as possible next Spring. The birds will be pecking at the new green shoots plus any seed that didn't germinate.

Or do it as soon as the crops are out and use it as a fall hunting area.

Beans came off and they planted wheat yesterday I couldn’t of had it work out better but I still broadcast 50 lbs of oats see what happens this spring

I had 5 toms yesterday looking for grasshoppers in my back yard, not 10 yds from the 50 yd archery bag target. I shot at the target, and walked to within 20 yds of the target before the turkeys walked back towards the woods. They stopped walking when I got to the target, and started looking for grasshoppers as soon as I started walking back to the shooting bench.

That's funny. The turkeys used to walk by my few hives every morning to eat the weak dying or dead bees in front of the hive. Since there are now 13 hives on the bench that stopped happening. I guess the turkeys didn't like all the stings.
