What has produced the best groups in the way of powder for other people with the Encore in .50 caliber?
Pellets, loose powder, brand, etc???
What about the ffg or fffg loose powder?
Thanks.
Shawn

Pyrodex pellets (three). The biggest variable in creating tighter groups (in my experience) is seating pressure exerted on the projectile. Consistent seating pressure produces consistently tighter groups.

I've had the best luck with Pyrodex pellets through my Omega .50 cal.

I guess I lied. I use 777 pellets. Same difference.

I think Chico hit the nail on the head when it comes to ML accuracy, consistent seating pressure! I know it makes a BIG difference in my Savage.

The sabots slide down much easier if you run a patch down, which makes it easier for you to judge pressure once seated on top of the charge.

When I sighted mine in, i cleaned it after every shot because I knew it was going to be clean when I shot at a deer.

When I sighted mine in, i cleaned it after every shot because I knew it was going to be clean when I shot at a deer. Good tip Chico! One thing I learned about my Savage, during my initial cleaning after buying it, I used too much breech plug lube. It didn't seem like a lot, but it got my powder wet, and I spent a day only hearing primers pop! I was complaining about my "$700 spotting scope", while my friends laughed at me! When I got home I pulled the charge, and it was easy to see what the problem was. Since then, I use very little grease, and have had no problems shooting, or removing my breech plug.

What brands of powders are you all using? Pellets or loose? FFg or FFFg?

I use loose 777 in my Contender.I haven't tried ffg or fffg in mine yet,but plan on trying it sometime to see how they do.Pyrodex and 777 both shoot about the same and pretty good, but ffg and fffg might shoot better.

How finely it is ground. FFg is more course grained than FFFg.
