Well folks , it's 6:33 and I'm ready for the opener . The .54 is standing in the garage with a patched round ball down it's throat and a speed loader waiting in the wings . Hopefully the diminishing rut will have the does and bucks moving around for food and water this morning so that I can ventilate one of them .
Good luck to all and happy hunting !

I bagged a nice fat spike with one antler broken off at 8:30 , I have him dressed and draining hanging from my basketball goal at the moment . Once he's dry I'll head for the check station . The East sinkhole scores another one !
I wasn't gonna take him at first , I'd much rather have the same size doe instead , but he didn't look like he'd amount to much so I shot him anyway . I trailed him to the sinkhole on the West side and found him piled up by the neighbor's fence line , still alive but bleeding heavily and unable to get up . After giving him about ten minutes to finish bleeding he was still hanging on and I had to pop him again to finish it . It turns out that my first round caught him dead in the middle of his liver , he wouldn't have lasted much longer . We're gonna eat good this Winter !
