Saturday will be my first time a field with my new T/C Omega.
Wondered what most of you do, if you don't pull the trigger on a deer at the end of your hunt?
Do you discharge the gun in the ground?
Do you remove the breech plug and push the pellets/sabot completely through the barrel to be used again? If so, does this "mishape" the sabot at all?
Wondered what some of you smoke pole veterans do.
Thanks, Jon

That's what I would do provided the conditions are dry. Keep the rifle in your vehicle overnight to avoid condensation. If the conditions are damp, I'd shoot it or pull it and start from scratch. The priority is keeping your powder dry so pull it or shoot it if you have any doubts. I've done this since '02 and never had an issue. I had an issue in '01 with a gun that wouldn't fire during rainy weather. Last year I even hunted in rainy conditions opening morning with my Omega and because of that pushed my load out the rear. I found the powder still dry. Still, I didn't want to take the chance.

Unless I'm in a bad rainstorm, I usually leave my gun loaded and uncapped all season. I also keep my gun in the garage to prevent condensation.
