I may have to do that with my .45. I'm ordering some different conicals to try in it but if they don't shoot back to Knight it goes. They're gonna have a hard time working up a load since I can only shoot conical bullets in .45 and they don't sell any conicals in that caliber.

Hunter480
First off Hi. My DE does fine with pyrodex pellets. I shoot 150 grms pyro and push a 300gr 452 hpxtp. I have this zero'd in at 75 yrds. Which is about the longest shot that I have in the area that I hunt. At 75 yds it is hitting 1/2 in high over a 2 in spot. I tried 777 loose useing 110 grm measured. It hit dead on but 8 to 10 inches low. May try 150 pellets but not sure if want to spend the extra money just to test. After all I have a winning compination (for me) now. Why mess with it. You know If its not broken do not fix it.

Hunter480, I called Knight and asked what would I be safe in shooting in my Knight of which I have many when 777 first came out, they said do not exceed 120 grains of 777 in any Knight. Unless they have recinded that, I would clarify your load of 150 grains 777 loose. I know they do say 150 grains of 777 in pellet form is OK. The reason being 150 grains in pellet form will not even come close to 150 grains of 777 loose. The reason being some of the cheaper ML'ers that say 150 grains in pellet form is OK, therefore 777 makers reduce the load in pellet form to accomadate the cheaper brands. I see where you sent it to Knight and had them work up a load for your rifle, I'm curios is the 150 load of 777 what they said if so I see where another call to Knight is in order. Not doubting you just want to try and make everyone aware of the danger in 150 grain 777 loose especially in cheaper made guns.

I`m going to copy a reply I got back from the tech at Knight that worked on my Disc Extreme- GREGORY, ALL I DID WAS RUN A DAMP SPIT PATCH BETWEEN EACH SHOT, I DONT LET THE BARREL COOL, THE BIG THING IS JUST TO RUN THE SPIT PATCH BETWEEN EACH SHOT. PEOPLE WILL TELL YOU MANY DIFFERENT LOAD THAT ARE MORE ACCURATE THAN OTHERS, I JUST PREFER THE 150 GR. THE ONLY REASON I LIKE THE 150 BETTER IS IT SHOOTS FLATTER AT LONGER DISTANCES. -----Original Message----- I thought the Disc Extremes were rated for 150 grains of powder. Before you shoot it though, contact Knight at this web address: www.knightrifles.com/Let me hear what you get figured out.

Yes, they are rated for 150 grains of 777, But as I said only in pellet form. I have a Master Hunter in 50 Caliber, and when I tried 120 grains of loose my accuracy went south now I shoot 110 grains of 777 with a 300 grain SST Hornady bullet, outstanding results have killed Deer out to 200 yards with this load. Good Luck Lou

150 of pellets or 120 in loose powder is what their manuals say. I have been told in an email that I could shoot 150 loose if I wanted to but only 135 or so would actually burn with a 250 gr bullet.
This was when I asked about the max charge for Triple Seven loose powder since it wasn't out when I had bought my rifle. I no longer have the email though. I never considered it important since I don't like the heavier charges. I just wanted to check and make sure I was ok.

Like I said, that's what I was told.

Here is the reply I got from a Knight technician I`ve been talking to:
GREG IT WAS PROBABLY PELLETS IF I DIDN'T SAY LOOSE POWDER, I DON'T REMEMBER THOUGH. BUT I ALSO USE LOOSE POWDER UP TO 150 GRAINS OF 777, IT IS SAFE TO USE

I think I have found out what my problem with 777 is.
1) I am only shooting 110 measured of 2f which has about 300 foot pounds less than pyro pellets at 150.
2) should have tried 3f instead. Should have known better since changed from 2f to 3f with black powder pack in the 70's to get better performance with same load.
3) if am going to use loose the use 3f and weigh each load, or do it simply and use 150 pellets.
Think I may end up using 150 pellets in my Savage instead of going smokeless. Just have not decided yet.
