This blind was hunted on 3 mornings and 5 evenings since youth season last weekend...a total of 24 longbeards were seen with at least 9 being different birds as that is as many as were seen at one time. First bird was killed last Sunday evening at 6:25. Second bird Wednesday morning at 7:30. Hit but not found bird was Friday evening at 5:00. Third bird was this evening at 4:45. An 8 year olds first bird. A 45 year olds first bird with a bow. A friend's 10 year son's first shot and a hit but not found bird. The first bird in several years for that friend. A little sanity in insane times....the 2020 turkey season.

That's all awesome. Is this in the big food plot you cleared out a while back?

I have two roughly 3 acre plots...this is the first of the two. The other plot was hunted just Saturday morning and my buddy and his boy saw 2 longbeards but the youngster couldn't get a shot at the moving birds. Cameras showed birds using both plots but this one was just so consistent nearly all day. It's where the Tom's wanted to be...

Congrats to all! I think the youngster's smile is the best part.

He had a ball...his first opportunity at a bird was Saturday evening of youth season. 5 longbeards together at roughly 20 yards. Shot over them so bad they were more confused than anything else but by the time I got a second shell in his gun they had worked their way out to 40 yards or so.
Sunday evening was his next opportunity...same deal, longbeard works his way across the plot in full strut until he is 20 yards and directly next to our brand spanking new decoy. Missed again and again by the time I got a second shell in his gun the bird was too far out.
Hour later and yet another longbeard makes his way to the deke...and again he misses too high to even scare the bird. It stays in full strut right next to the decoy long enough for me to get the gun loaded again. I'm whispering lower, lower, aim lower.
Fourth shot is the charm and he finally connected.
Next year's gun will wear a red dot...he will learn over time to stay down on a bead sight but the red dot will eliminate some of the learning curve on that.
