Thanks for posting those woody! My buddy in the top pic had never shot a tom and is a relatively new hunter (less than two years). We got him yesterday morning 15 minutes before sunrise as we called him off the roost and he came in on a rope. Today I was able to get my largest tom weighing right at 28# with 1 1/4 spurs. The only down side for my team is that he had beard rot and only had a 2 3/4 inch beard. Overall it’s been an awesome week and I’m so thankful I was able to get my buddy his first bird. He called both of them in too so I’m even more proud of him.

I have a bird that just showed up on the trail cam that has to have it, the beard is maybe 30 hairs. Long, but VERY sparse and "patchy".

Honestly I’m not sure, there’s a couple different theories for mine so beard rot isn’t 100% a fact. But the one you have definitely sounds like that... I’m only going off of what my coach thought who was a wild life biologist for TN

I don’t know how to post pictures in here but the weird thing with mine was that it was a perfectly clean slice. So I don’t think it was broken off. The only other real theory I have is that someone shot at him with one of the wide turkey broad heads and missed... some of those are sharp enough at 350 FPS I think it’d be possible
