Well was blessed to take this heavy, but SPURLESS tom yesterday morning
What a day in the field at a location I have never had birds before... had at least 5 birds gobbling at me
Was hoping to get my "target" bird which I have scouted for the last two months. He always roosted by himself, so when this dude fired off in the same area and all the other birds were in the woods the other end I thought it was the one I was after. He had a very distinct gobble
Got him to fly down using the soft purr of the Harmon Humpin Hen box call, then some nice deep long yelps he committed.
Took him 15 minutes to come 70 yards, strutting the whole way, but he would NOT commit to the decoys, not spooked but just woundn't come into perfect camera area
SO with a couple openings in the brush and him at just 20 yards I took the opportunity to lay the hammer down.
Great morning, surprised to find he has NO spurs.. YUP NO SPURS, never grew them, then to weigh him and he hit 25lbs 10 oz.... I knew he was an older bird
Stats: 10.75 beard 25 lbs 10 oz ZERO SPURS... LOL
I cannot get images on here .. someone help !!! LOL

No spurs, That is unusual. Maybe he wore them off kicking all the other toms arse. LOL Congrats on a nice bird.

Congrats!
I shot one a couple years ago with a full fan, beard longer than 10" and about 20 lbs. I din't weigh it. But it had only nubs for spurs. Only had one like that.
