Legally, yes, but I don't know of too many farmers that have the time to be running coon traps on top of keeping up with farming. That's obviously up to the farmers. If they want them gone, it's going to take time/effort to get rid of them. Now whether that effort is the farmers themselves, a trapper, or a hunter is up to the farmer... True, but that would require the farmer to be concerned about the turkey population. Most can just turn the damage in on their crop insurance and come out even. So no extra work, no extra people on the land, nobody to worry about other than themselves.

Find someone to hunt yes..... finding someone to PAY maybe! Maybe, maybe not... You might be surprised what people are willing to pay to hunt even average ground. Yeah..... be like leasing a apple farm but someone picks all the apples they can before you get a chance! Someone using multi dep. permits before a hunter doesn’t equate to “average hunting ground” to me. Fools born everyday I guess.....lol

But I imagine there are enough fools around that a farmer could take some deer off his property with depredation permits and still lease the ground for good money.

I guess if it's easier to turn it in on crop insurance, why mess with it...
