My wife and I feel blessed to still be employed. Not the case with some family members. In the last 4 days, we've taken a number of calls revealing some tough situations. Between my wife and me, we have 8 siblings. All of us are married. 20 of us total and all of us were employed 2-3 months ago. As of today, 9 of us are still working. 11 of my siblings/spouses are now furloughed or laid off or permanently let go. Those of us still employed are in essential businesses including service/engineering, healthcare, ministry and one is a farmer. The family members less fortunate range from sales to factory to general labor to child care and school corporation (staff, non teaching).

I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm fortunate enough to still be working my full time job. I lost my second job.
My wife feels caught between two rocks. She's happy I'm still working but, hates that I have to work in the public.
We both have friends and family members that have been laid off and furloughed as well. We help out with what we can and just pray for a quick resolution.

We lost 2/3 or our income overnight. I'm hoping the restrictions get lifted soon. The Indiana unemployment system isn't set up to allow for the self employed or small business owners yet. My wife calls and emails them every day. We haven't been able to get any help.

Every day these tolls get larger and larger. Harder to overcome. The healthcare system needs a strong economy to function.
There are no easy answers but if we are not working we will fail to get better. Socialism does not work.

I hate to hear that some are having tough times. I don't know anyone personally who is out of work. I have four siblings, and all of them and their spouses are still working, as are my wife and I.

This is a rough deal. Hopefully it won't extend too much longer.
Also hope it's a wake up call for a bunch of folks ridiculously strapped in home, auto, and credit card debt to get their spending under control, build a nest egg and be prepared for the next time an income interruption comes around. Have heard quite a few real nice stories about folks who live frugally, have some savings accumulated, and are really enjoying this unexpected time off with their family.
