Posted by Randy at the TenPoint website… www.tenpointcrossbows.com A few years ago I got a call from Richard Sears. He works off the Eastern coast of Canada as well as France doing research on Whales. He got a TenPoint Crossbow to take blubber sample of the whales. They use this sample to check the health of the whales. It sounded a little odd to me, but you can't very well take them to the Vet. for a check up. Richard got me some pictures that were taken by Fred Bassemayousse while they were on one of their trips off the coast of France. I wanted to share these because it is a very different and unique application for a crossbow. You will notice in the close up photo of Richard that the arrow has a big yellow stopper. This limits the depth of the penetration, pops the arrow back out and makes the arrow float so they can recover the sample and do the research. Check out their website at www.rorqual.com

As long as it doesn't interfere with the peak of the rut. And keep crossbows out of harpoon season! ;D

Blubber samples? Sounds like an excuse to go out and punch shallow holes in whales with a crossbow. One day he just may tick one off and find himself capsized by an angry whale!
