I was blessed to harvest this boar on Thursday (3/8/07) at Wilderness Lodge in Monterey, Tennessee. Our hunts were pretty much spot & stalk and those hogs run me ragged up & down those mountains. After countless blown stalks I managed to slip up on this one at 18 yds and made a good quartering away ..behind the ribs & passed through the front. He went about 30 yds and piled up. He was'nt the largest hog nor the smallest I saw but definitely had to be the ugliest. I had a blast on this hunt and learned real quick these hogs provide a heck of a challenge to get the shot you need....they are absolutely never still & fast. I was using a Parker crossbow (150#) , Parker Super carbons tipped with a 125 gr. Wasp Hammer SST fixed blade.

CONGRATULATIONS JD!!
That is a nice hog, although a tad ugly as bsutravis said.
But an eater for sure.
That is some pretty steep hills in behind you there.
Looks like you earned that porkchop......

A big thanks to all that commented!!! Wilderness pretty much live up to expectations. Modest accomidations with bunkhouse style sleeping arangements. Food was good and you will see plenty of hogs. 3 days lodging ...2 full days hunting...was $625. Most of the hogs killed were in the 200-225 lb. range. The main hunting game plan is spot & stalk. If your bowhunting / crossbow hunting its a real challenge to get 30 yds or less from those hogs. I admit they dont appear to see to well but they make up for it with their nose & hearing. If spot & stalk does'nt appeal ....they will work with you as far as using pop-up blinds or tree stands. They will even break the dogs out if you request it. They have a lot of hogs and if your persistant theres no reason to not have plenty of shot oppertunities with archery gear. My only advice to anyone thinking about theses hunts.....get in shape. Those hills / mountains will wear you out.
