Clearing some logging trails for the turkeys to start using.
Clearing ground for natural ground blinds and setting up the Ghillie blind.
Fine tuning camera locations.
Racking debris off my trails to make silent entries into the woods so I don't busy birds off the roost.
I know it's a month away yet but, I work a hectic schedule and it'll sneak up on me if I don't get after it now. It's been a great day out here so far. But, still lots to do.
I hope you all get time to do some prep before season as well. Being outdoors does my mind and soul a lot of good.

Great thread, great post.
I`m blessed to be able to turkey hunt with my good buddy, he has access to several really good places in the Greencastle area, and I`m able to hunt alone there while he works to fill his tag, then if I`m still hunting, he`ll coma set up with, and call for me. The bird he called in for me last season was just a jake, but the story of the hunt was unbelievable. He said he wants to try to film a hunt this spring.
I`m going to try to start prepping pot calls and maybe try to master the diaphragm call one more time. I think using a diaphragm call not only allows a hunter to be hands free when a bird may be coming in, but it adds a different sound to the hunt, making it more realistic.
His brother has a nice fishing boat, so in my dreams, the three of us each kill nice birds opening morning, then spend the rest of the week catching slab crappie!

That's not a bad dream hunt!
As for the diaphragm calls, I watched a buddy of mine get into an argument with a hen at 10 yards with mouth call. I was absolutely amazed! That's when I started using one. So far, my favorite mouth is the Primos Sonic Dome. That's the only call I've ever been able purr with.
I didn't get everything done today. I'll wait until the week before opening day to finish. Hopefully I'll have a better idea on where I'll need to be by then.

I'm hoping that the new place will have a few birds. Other than that, I don't really do any prep or scouting for turkeys.. Maybe that's why I so rarely kill one?

Oh and as far as not doing any scouting, a few years ago I was completely swamped and did not get one camera out nor did I scout one single time. I literally walked out out opening morning, sat down in the central part of my property and had a bird gobble just a hundred yards from me. I was completely shocked. I killed him 15 minutes later. At that is the only time I have ever killed on opening day. So perhaps I'm the one goofing up?! Lol

Just got a ghillie blind myself. Got it setup where I shot my bird last year. We’ll see but the new blind is awesome either way.

For sure, and not a bad price considering the cost of some of the newer hub style blinds. Could see adding one or two more to the arsenal now that my daughter will be hitting the woods crossbow in hand with me.

Last season was the first time I actually used a blind. Sucked. They definitely shied away from my blind area. I did get a nice stalk on a bird though.

That`s interesting, I`ve read multiple places that the turkeys don`t mind the blinds and that they`re almost an unfair advantage because the pay them no mind.

I bought my licenses and stamp while ago. I might get the calls out and practice a bit later.

I hunt my own farm, so I don't reckon they can stop me from social distancing on my own homeland.

My wife filmed me out of a ground blind shooting this bird. Her first turkey hunt. We had set the blind up 15 minutes before I shot him. It would have been a shorter hunt had the farm in the field over hadn't spooked him a little on his four wheeler. The strutter walk just a couple yards past the blind. I don't actually prefer hunting turkeys from ground blinds. But, during rainy weather or when the misses tags along, they're great to have.

When does your season begin and does it look like it will be allowed? Regards Billy I spoke to our local conservation officer yesterday after the Governor gave the stay home order. He said as of now, the State likes keeping the parks and public lands open for people to get out walk, run, hike. He doesn't foresee that changing. But, I suppose none of us know what tomorrow will bring.
