Lift me up so that I may be healed, I had a small stroke Wednesday night and I wound up shaking the symptoms off and going to work. I had to drive a dump truck Thursday and I couldn't grip the shifter or steering wheel with my right hand. Went to the hospital in Owensboro Kentucky and after a CT scan right away, a MRI at 12:00a.m showed the vicinity of the stroke on my left side of the brain that controls feelings and sensations. I went through a ultrasound on my neck to check my arteries, a echocardiogram and another CT scan with contrast and 4 sets of lab work. I'm on a Aspirin regimen and Lipitor and I have to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist and a neurologist tomorrow. I'm pretty fortunate that it was small, but now I'm worried and wondering if I'm going to have another. Bad part of all of this is I have no health care coverage at all, but the bill is the least of my worries as my family is my main concern. Done.

Dang bro, what a run you are having! We wish you good luck in everything. Your plate is full, and it will be nice to hear this was all a bump in the road in the near future. My heart goes out to you guys.

Thanks guys but I have Faith and I know God has me in his hands. I know he doesn't put more on your plate than a person can handle, but he does test you and I believe this is a test of Faith. Slow and steady wins the race and I'm in snell gear at this point with 1 day at a time. I'm not 1 for slowing down or backing up, but maybe it's time to do so. Sad part of this, I still consider myself semi young as I'm only 39, but I'm getting to the point where I start 2nd guessing what and how I do things.

Well I have an update finally. Went to the cardiologist and neurologist the 12th. Turns out I have a "Medium" size hole in my heart and both the Cardiologist and Neurologist are thinking that might be how my stroke came to be. I went through the hospital and signed up for financial aide and to my surprise, I got approved for 100% of my bills paid as long as I stay within their medical group. My Cardiologist is wanting to send me to University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. Now, with no health insurance I'd have to file for financial aide through them but, my wife being the way she is, immediately went on the search and found a surgeon in the medical group where I got approved and I have an appointment to meet with her tomorrow at 2:30 pm. I also have a T.E.E scheduled for the 26th of this month but I'm kinda thinking that she might wait for that so she can have a better understanding before she moves forward. The down side to all of this is, neither doctor will let me go back to work until I get my heart fixed due to me having a CDL driver's license and I've exhausted all 5 days of my vacation days. Thankfully my family and I are fortunate enough to have some amazing friends that we can ask upon if we need help, but they will be a last resort and we'll have to be in a real jim dandy of a spot for me to ask.
Thanks to all for the prayers and support and we're praying hard as well that this is all over pretty quickly so I can get back to work and start providing for my loving family as I've always done.

Well I went and meet with the "New" cardiologist today. Her and the cardiologist I had in the hospital got together and did some brain storming. Verdict that came back is I have to have open heart surgery to get my heart fixed. I have a birth defect called a PFO and the only way it can be detected is by a echocardiogram. PFO is a flap in the heart wall that prevents the good blood (red) from mixing with the bad blood (blue). The blue blood is blood that hasn't been filtered through the body and made into good blood. She still wants me to have the T.E.E done as scheduled and I'll go back to see her on April 8th for surgery scheduling. She also expressed that it would be a double benefit since I use tobacco products, because she'll be able to examine my heart while she's in there and if there are other issues she'll be able to fix those as well. I expressed to her that all I want to do is back to my job so I can pick up where I was forced to leave off. She said I would be in the hospital for 3-5 days and off a minimum of 8 weeks.

I know the desire to get back to work asap, but you gotta get fixed and fixed right. Who knows, it may come at a good time if travel restrictions get put in place. A guy on another board that I knew and did some trading with wasn't on the board for a few days. His wife used his login to notify another member that he passed away. It was a cryptic message and we didn't believe it. Finally a few days later I was able to dig up an obituary on him. No reason given for his death, just that he passed away suddenly from a brief illness. He posted 5 days prior to him passing, he was 38 years young.

I'm putting Trust and Faith in the Lord that He'll guide the surgeon's hands and eyes while I have this surgery. I'm just glad I'm having it now so I can recover and get back to work. I'm hoping by the time I do get healed up, this epidemic we're going through will be over and done with. Right now I have 3 things on my mind, trying to take care of my family, getting back to work and my passion of the outdoors. I'm hoping I'll be able to pull a bow back and shoot my bang sticks without causing myself any grief.
