NASCAR has created a death monster with all its speed regulation where all the cars are the same. Only way to be faster to pass is per very close drafting. Add in the rules to end a race and this is what happens. The two stages adds to more of the same. It's one bad recipe! NASCAR is 100% to blame.
Prayers for 100% recovery for Ryan.

Question...
I’ve heard that several cars were “pushing him” by bumper to bumper contact to win the race. It doesn’t take much to get someone sideways in that scenario.

I think Newman and Hamlin share the blame on this one, there was some rubbing going on but Newman was blocking a faster car. It was bound to happen.

The bumping has been an issue for years, and was an issue in all 3 series races this year.
There are no simple answers, but the question of how to prevent this from happening again needs evaluated.

Don’t BLOCK..... then you won’t get turned! But many will always block because it’s part of stock car racing! Trying to blame NASCAR is nothing but goofy!

BLOCKING: is no different than hiring a person to read lips so they tell what the opposing coaches are saying. BLOCKING: is no different than watching the opposing team's catcher give the pitcher a signal then you tip off your batter by moving a garbage can in a certain direction. Blocking: is the drivers way of bringing home the trophy NO MATTER THE COST. Until someone changes the rules disallowing blocking, bumping, rubbing, bump drafting teams will do what ever is needed to win. And if they ever decide that all the above will be disallowed I will TAKE UP WATCHING GOLF instead of racing. JUST REMEMBER THIS: www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEPwDIGWYug

I do think their constant changes to make things equal doesn't exactly help. I have never been a fan of the Green White Checkered finishes, nor the overtime to end races on a green flag. MWR proved that can easily be manipulated. I think they should either count all yellow flag laps including the laser one, or don't count any. Wouldn't that mess up the fuel mileage calculators? Like I said, there is no easy answers.

Yes, all kinds of bumping etc going on. Today, all three models are almost the same. With the restrictions the speed are almost the same. Old days one could pass just on speed and some close drafting help, not push drafting. Today they can only pass on tire change for a few laps. I forgot to add: Next race sometimes there was bumping pay back. Fun to watch.

The blaming comment was aimed at you ... sorry for the friendly fire ! Wayne’s was the target 🎯 I guess it was a miss! Haha. Once restrictor plates added and rules change it marked the end of great racing. In the old days they change from wooden tracks to larger and larger better tracks made of concrete or blacktop. Close to flat banks to 30-40 plus degree banks. Some years ago they needed to start building bigger and better tracks so some of the speed limitation could be removed. It's nuts they still drive on these small speed limited tracks. PS: Long time ago Cincinnati was known to have one of the best tracks in USA. It was a large wooden track. Cincinnati was the place to race. Now that spot is Ford Motor Company. Some day in the near future it will be human UFA's (drone) racing.

I forgot to add: Next race sometimes there was bumping pay back. Fun to watch. I agree with you Wayne's. I think one of the biggest faults with nascar now is every one has to be equal. Use to be that manufactures and car owners were allowed to innovate to improve the performance and speed of their cars.now nascar has a set template that you have to follow and it is the luck of the draw or pitstop/tire/fuel strategy to win not making your car better than everyone else's. I remember just recently a car got fined 25k because they did not us nascar approved head bolts. What a crock. I say keep the safety regs in place get rid of the spoilers, air splitters and other make them equal rules. Let them use any and all available stock part(tires, gears, heads, shocks, jacks impact rench(you now have to use a nascar approved one even if there is one that will do it faster and better) and such and let them RACE. Put the innovation back in racing. I personally hate the splitter. There is no reason a guy should have to have a bumper or finder ripped on if he happens to go in to the grass because a splitter digs a half acre of dirt up or spins out because the splitter hit the track and took traction away from the front tires. I am a long time nascar fan but it is wayning, partly because of the things stated and partly because I choose not to spend my money on cable and I can only watch about 1/3 of the races. I use to know all driver car nos, where they were in the standings, who they drove for, now I know about 4 I root for and 4 I root against. I do not care much if I miss a race or not and i do not think winning a race has much effect on car buying on Monday like it did years ago. People know the cars are shells of what they use to be and the engineering of them does not relate to what you buy at the dealer nowdays. These are just MY opinions. Yours may be different Onebentarrow

Slight change of topic, but still in the Nascar vein. I don't understand why they don't run rain tires like Indy or Formula 1. The fans are there, they have hotel rooms and flights to catch after the race or the next day. Do they refund ticket prices if you can't make the race because it was pushed back a day? I doubt it.

Nobody wants to sit in the rain and watch a race besides the rain would put out the BBQ and dilute your beer.

Nobody wants to sit in the rain and watch a race besides the rain would put out the BBQ and dilute your beer. O.K., so what would a person usually do? Try to arrange another day off of work, reschedule their plane ticket and see about staying at least 1 more night in the hotel so they could see the race in the dry? Or leave when scheduled and not see the race in person?
