,,,but I don't care, I did it anyway.
Last night I was reading through my local news website and ran across a story about "Mom's Demand Action" putting together some little project to display in Washington, D.C. It said they were "building boxes", to be combined with others assembled across the nation and put into a feel-good display.
At the bottom of the article was a link, with a prompt to "share your gun violence story". I decided to oblige. I clicked the link, which sent me to EverytownUSA, with another link offered, begging for gun violence stories. I opened this link and shared the following.
Early this spring, a friend of mine was gunned down in his own living room. I had tried for months to talk him into purchasing a handgun for his defense. He refused, and it cost him his life.
I went on to say, if he had listened to me, and purchased a handgun, he might just still be with us today. I then asked them to read, "More Guns = Less Crime" by author John Lott, explaining that this could help them understand my point of view.
I do not expect my story to be published, but I had to share it with them regardless.
