I do know their cheaper bows are just that , cheap. The Revolution is supposedly the best that they put out, so maybe it is OK. .

For the same money you could get an Excalibur Vixon from this place I know of.They ship free so it may even save a couple of bucks. Woody knows a thing or two about the Excal.

Given its quality and capabilities, the Vixen is a bargain. It is my favorite crossbow.

IMHO - Stick with a TenPoint or an Excalibur.
You will not regret either crossbow.

Thanks everyone for the replies, I/We appreciate it very much. She liked the wieght of it,the feel, balance etc. then found another Barnette she likes, who knows what (if anything) she'll settle on , this year. She is working on her Masters Degree in Special Education, and doesn't have too much time to hunt; so she may wait (now she's saying) , plus she's hoping for the full Ky expansion to take place , now that she's seen things CAN change despite the wishes of the "rich and powerfull" in Ky....(which would help her time wise a great deal) . She's not been hunting very long (deer), and loves her Encore 7mm-08, she has to like the feel of any weapon before she's "seriously interested" the Excals and Ten points, are "too heavy/cumbersome" feeling for her (the ones they had in stock that is)....
Again thank you to all who have responded, we appreciate it, when she makes up HER mind, you can bet she'll do her "dead level best" to become very good with it , and hunt every single chance she gets......... gotta love a woman like that!!

They might feel that way upon first impression, but they are built solid and will last. I've spent a lot of time in the field bowfishing in Illinois with my Excals, and the abuse they have taken is unbelievable. Twice the Vixen has ended up at the bottom of the river and after retrieving it and spraying it down with WD-40 it is still a tack driver. Bowfishing is very hard on equipment with the water, rain, grass, algae, and fish blood and slime. Plus being knocked around on a boat. The claim that the Excals are designed by hunters who hunt is no marketing BS, it is the honest truth. They are built simple and rugged with quality parts. The others are fun to play with at the range, but an Excal is the only thing I will take with me to the field.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll be sure to pass it on, the bowfishing and abuse for the excal vixen, sure makes it seem a great bow, can't beat that endorsement! Again many thanks!

aceoky, Here's a pic of my Vixen with my catch today. These carp were shot on the Des Plaines River backwaters near Channahon, Illinois (yes we can use crossbows to shoot rough fish in Illinois).

Are these carp any good to eat? From what I hear only if you have a smoker or if you are very careful to remove the mud vein. My dad once caught a carp while fishing (this was long before I started bowfishing), and my wife decided to clean it and make some spicy fish curry. Even with the curry and spices it tasted so bad no one could eat it, and she threw out the whole batch and said never again. Common carp flesh is red, not white like most ofher fish. I have heard it is a tradition in some parts of Europe to eat carp, especially at Christmas. I don't know how they prepare it. They must hold their nose while eating it. Any carp I catch end up as fertilizer for my garden and fruit trees.

By the way my Vixen has the lite limbs (115 lbs - I still have the original 150 lb limbs). Even so, all 3 of those carp I shot were complete passthrus. I almost lost the middle fish, the 200 lb fast flite line almost sawed its way through the fish by the time I reeled it in. In fact, as soon as I got it into the boat the fish fell off.

Thanks again for the replies and responses, some great information! Nice carp! One day I'll actually make the time to try bowfishing one of those things I keep sayine "one day".....
She's still not made her mind up fwiw, she's also working on her master's degree, working full time so, obviously she's in no real hurry, at this time, she's pretty well busy all the time, and told me as much as she wants to try a crossbow, she can barely make time for ML and Rifle season right now,(and not a great deal of these) so who knows?? (still I admire her for getting as much info as she can, so when she's ready she'll have that to go on).. I appreciate all the help and information from all very much indeed!

I finished my master's degree in June 2005 while working full time, so I know what she's going through. I set up a target in the basement and used to take a break now and then from my studies and shoot a few arrows from the Vixen to move around and get some exercise.

Stay away from the reveloution.... I tried one out and it looked VERY cheaply made... JMO, but I would defintely stay with a Tenpoint... Their customer service is second to none too....
