Getting my first crossbow any ideas on which one? thinking of tenpoints titan tl-4 any comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Ten Point makes excellent crossbows. Quality all the way. I own a TenPoint QX4 and an Excalibur Exomag and they are both fine shooters. IMO - if you want a compound crossbow the TenPoint is the way to go. If you want a recurve then the Excalibur is the way to go. Even though the Titan is on the low end of the scale for a TenPoint it is still a quality product that will give you many, many years of service. BTW - WELCOME to Hunting Indiana.. .

I own a Titan,Got it about a month ago and have shot it a couple of hundred times. It is my first crossbow so I have nothing to compare it to but it shoots very accurate and the quality and workmanship is exceptional.I had to quit shooting groups because I was splitting arrows in half.It cant get any better than that.

I've had a Excalibur for 5 years and all I've done is changed the string. Oh yeah added a custom stock. The appeal for the excalibur is simplicity. I know guys who own excaliburs and friends with TenPoints and friends with everything else. The Excaliburs come out on top with great service, reliability, and accuracy the TenPoints a close second, I like how much more compact they are but find them slightly heavier. As for anything else I wouldn't even consider them.

So what are the major differences in a "recurve" style versus a "compound" style if someone was looking to purchase one?

Mainly in the maintenance. Sooner or later the string and/or cables on that compound are going to need to be replaced (as I found with my Buckmaster Maxpoint compound crossbow). The recurve Excals are very easy to do maintenance on, even in the field I can change a string with the stringer in less than a minute. Not so with the compound jobs.
Also I found my recurve Excals to have a bit better accuracy than the Maxpoint. But the Maxpoint is a very powerful bow. I decided I wouldn't be going after moose or anything else that large, so I bought a set of recurve limbs and riser from Excalibur and converted it into basically an Exocet.

I have the Ten Point Pro Fusion and it is flat out a TACK FREAKING DRIVER...... You will not believe the accuracy of this thing if you shoot it... I can peg a walnut 9/10 times at 50 yards with mine..
