I definitely like the Avian X brand. I want to add a jake decoy to go along with my hen ( I didn't care too much for the funky chicken I got) and I'm wondering if you guys and gals have a preference from the 1/4 strut or 1/2 strut Jake. I think I like the appearance of the 1/2 strut best. But, I thought I would poll you all so I can make a more educated purchase. Thanks. Here's a pic of each...

I have and like the 1/4 strut.. it’s like the Jake doesn’t know if he wants to try and dominate or not. I’ve killeda bunch of birds with him and an Avian X feeding hen.

I have the 1/4 strut as well. Haven't killed a turkey with it set up yet, but killed a jake last season with 2 hen decoys set up. I got the 1/4 strut though because it seemed like it might have a good chance of triggering a tom better than the half strut.

Woody I like the looks of the 1/2 strut the best. He looks like he is looking for trouble. The neck looks like it will present better too! JMO

I have the stuffer Woody told me about years ago. I put a hen low to the ground in front of him and if they see it they are coming. Prob killed 20 plus using that set up

I have the same set up as Woody. Seems to work pretty well.

I broke down and bought an Avian-X HDR 1/4 strut jake. It sure looks good! I comes with two different heads. One is a curled back more aggressive look while the other option is a telescoped more submissive look.
The pictures looked like the decoy was flocked but, nowhere in the description did it mention it. I was very pleased to see that it was in fact flocked. I had a friend flock my Avian-X feeder hen decoy last year and I really like how it looks.
It has a hard body which makes it a little heavy but, I think it'll be worth the extra few pounds. It may not be great for running and gunning but, for initial set-ups in the morning or evening, I think it'll be great.
It came with a nice carrying bag too.

DSD or Avian-X are my 2 favorites; well unless you use an actual stuffed decoy

DSD is what I use. I got the mating motion pair for this spring season

made in USA too which I appreciate. They have good sales on second decoys from time to time
