I'm not an avid coyote hunter so I could use some advice. I'm planning on being set up by 2pm and will begin calling. I know that their breeding season is upon us so I assume that maybe a female challenge bark to start out? Then maybe some yips and howling? If those fail after 30 minutes of periodic calling, maybe switch to mouse sqeek or rabbit in distress? Any guidance would be great!
I'll be using a FoxPro Fusion call with a TX1000 remote. My weapon of choice will be a T/C 22.250.

I've never called in a 'yote so I'd be doing you a disservice telling you anything.

I've never called in a 'yote so I'd be doing you a disservice telling you anything. I've only done it a couple of times and I think it was the classic cottontail in distress.

YouTube is a good source. There's just a lot of content to try and sort through.

FoxPro has a forum and there's a lot of good information on there as well.

I'd start with a lone female howl. As if some lonely female is out looking for a mate. Or maybe before you try that call, try a mouse squeaking or dying rabbit call to see if there are any nearby coyotes sleeping that you didn't scare away in your setup. Try low noise first and see if there is anything close by. Then try the long lone female howl.
A challenge bark might scare some smaller coyotes away and make them leave. Now a big male might come in if he hears a challenge bark inside his territory.
This time of the year is breading time and they are very territorial. So coyote howls may work. And if all else fails, try a pup in distress call or pup distress call. That will almost always bring in a nearby coyote or stop a running coyote.
