What`s your favorite rifle sling? A rifle sling is a handy, versatile piece of equipment since it can make getting to your hunting spot more comfortable and keep your rifle and scope safe, as well as, can be used to wrap around your forearm to create tension and give a steadier sight picture if a solid rest isn`t available. I think it`s an often overlooked and underappreciated piece of hunting equipment.

The Claw is a very usable sling. It has good grip on your shoulder to prevent slipping that a lot of others have.
Recently I tried a Butler Creek from Walmart. It has a soft, almost spongy pad that is super comfortable and extremely sticky as far as grip. It is now my favorite, and I am constantly switching it from gun to gun, so it's time to buy more!

The Claw. It doesn't slip off your shoulder like others will. I haven't tried that one from Butler Creek.

I like the Uncle Mikes black nylon adjustable slings. They've got a "grippy" material on the underside that stays in position on your shoulder and they adjust real quick. Not a fan of the ones that hold extra rifle rounds, I find the bullets to be in the way when shooting off a rest and they occasionally "clank" against something making unnecessary noise.

Standard Quake Claw for t-shirt weather and the Slimline version for colder weather. I really like the slimline the best, but the narrowness feels like it cuts into my shoulder when I am only wearing a t-shirt squirrel hunting early in the season.
I used to have problems with slings slipping/sliding and my barrels always pointing behind me instead of up. Quake slings stopped that.

I just took advantage of the CMP selling military slings several years ago. Stocked up with a half dozen on top of what I already had. I'm good to go for the rest of my life.

I do like and own several Claw slings. However, I prefer a leather sling with and rifle or shotgun with a wooden stock. No real reason why other than the look. I currently only have one wooden stock firearm but, Friday morning I'm ordering another.
The claw slings are fantastic. I especially love them on my turkey guns since I do a lot more running and gunning with them.

I will second the Butler Creek at Walmart. Camo with the burgundy strap. It's very comfy as far as padding goes. $19.99
I have 3. Sport one on my shotgun, .22, and muzzleloader...

I appreciate you fellas mentioning the custom leather companies! I ordered one from Ozark Mountain Leather Company with just enough time for it to arrive before a Friend's son & I present his dad (my hunting buddy for past 30 years) with a new rifle in 2-1/2 weeks! Appreciate the idea.

I took advantage of the Expert Voice deal from being an NRA Life-Endowment member, and got a pretty good price on a Butler Creek Comfort V-Grip sling. I`ll throw it on the Ruger .30-06, get the scope moved back for the proper eye relief, get it re-zeroed, and be ready to tag a few deer come this November. www.butlercreek.com/products/slings/comfort-v-grip-sling

Now that's an idea! Only downside to that is if you are wearing a backpack.

greetings essup If I have a roesack on, which as the name implies is a back pack for carrying a roe deer in, then I put the pack on first then the rifle on my shoulder and a support strap from the back pack around the rifle sling and it never moves. I would not be without one in my job, very rough ground and small shoulders. I can use the binos, thermal, set the sticks up and the rifle never moves until I want it onto the sticks. Five stars from me. Regards Billy

www.specialtyoutdoorproducts.net/The Ultimate Gun Sling is my favorite. All my long guns have one on them. I gave all my other slings away. Several of my rifles are on the heavy side. The rubber material absorbs the jarring while walking making the gun feel half the weight. I also have a couple of their bow slings that I bought years ago. Check out Bill O’Neil’s videos on you tube on the ultimate gun sling’s use.
