I would like to go hunting for coyotes during the coyote hunting season from Oct 15th though March of next years. Is it legal to hunt with the AR15 5.56 platform when hunting on public lands in the Indiana Fish and Wildlife Areas. Even during deer hunting season. I would be using a light at night and want to make sure that is legal to do. I've been interested in predator hunting ever since I was in High School 50 years ago. I don't hunt much anymore as I'm handicapped now due to a very bad heart, bad back and cancer. I can't haul gear or walk too far these days without getting out of breath. I read that one can get a permit to hunt if they are handicapped. I get SSI though social security but it's very little. It does help me pay for the medicines I have to take to stay alive. Can I get a permit to hunt out of the back of my truck if I'm disabled? I want to cover the truck with a camo cover to hide it and put in a Caldwell Deadshot Chair Pod in the bed of the pickup truck and try my luck hunting coyotes. But there are only a few public ares to hunt. The last time I tried this at Bluegrass F&W area I went at 2 am thinking it would be less crowded. I was going to park in the parking lot and hike up into the field to hunt. When I arrived there were already two trucks in the parking lot and 4 guys fishing for catfish at the launch ramp at the North End of the Lake. Now this was in Dec or Jan mind you. There are so many people out there that I didn't feel it was safe to shoot at anything that night. So I ended up going to McDonalds to get some coffee and something to eat before going back home. That was before I found out that two of my heart bypasses have failed this year. That was several years ago. I do know that there is a sign up sheet for hunting coyotes at night at Bluegrass Pit in the South Parking lot. I don't like to go hunting when there are too many others out there hunting with guns. So hunting during deer gun season is out for me. But there are other people out and about on these public lands and I worry about hunting at night due to the fact that I may not see these peole out there in the dark.
