I've never spent much money on a coffee maker before. $40 at the most. I've always been pretty patient, at most things anyhow, but my Mr. Coffee Brewer was taking over 20 minutes to brew just 2 cups. I've cleaned numerous times and seen no improvement. I finally broke down and bought a good Bunn coffee brewer. Cost just over $100 but, it should last a very long time. And, I get 2 cups brewed in 2 minutes.

Now my wife can have a cup as she makes her way 15 min after I wake up! We do use DI water to cut down on scale.

I'm now on my second Bunn coffee maker. The first one lasted more than 10 years before I broke the pot. Couldn't find a replacement pot and swore I would NEVER buy another Mr. Coffee, or the like.
When I shut off the alarm in the morning I move to the kitchen and start a pot. My first cup is generally ready by the time I finish going to the bathroom.
Well worth the extra bucks as far as I'm concerned.

Broken record here. Nothing comes close to a Bunn. We do have a Bella single serve k-cup unit for the occasional one cup of coffee. It has been a trooper, using hard tap water for several years without incident.

I had to stop drinking coffee after I woke from my 7/11/03 issue. Still dry. Don't miss it.

I love the smell of coffee, however, I think it tastes like cigarette butts and burnt water. LOL, I never aquired the taste.

We’ve had a Bunn for a long, long time.
You can beat them.

On our third Keurig. First two scaled up internally on our hard water after a little over a year each. Switched to using distilled for our drinking water and coffee, and for the cat, after his bout with a UTI and some advice from my cousin who's a vet.
Eight years now with no further issues with the cat or the Keurig. Give it a white vinegar enema occasionally if it starts getting slow, but that's only been needed a couple of times during those eight years. Wife likes it for the convenience when she's fixing a cup of instant soup or cocoa.
Figured if the distilled was good for the cat and the coffeemaker, it was probably a good idea for the two old codgers shuffling around here too.

How in the world do you hold the cat still for THAT procedure? LOL

If you break your pot, try searching resale shops.

The only coffee maker I recall having on the counter for many years is a Cuisinart! Many years ago we got one for a present. That one failed after about a decade and we had another free one ready to go in the attic, complements of a family member who had recently purchased a Keurig. My wife got another one a few years back for “free” that she found at a rummage sale. My wife had made a nice donation to the church holding the sale so a lady just “gave” her the coffeemaker! So, it sits in the attic, ready for use when the time comes!

That or some CLR which contained Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) which will disolve any hard water deposits and open up the machine and make it run much faster. Just make sure that you flush it out at min of three times maybe more with distilled water before you make any coffee after you clean it with the acid.

I had to stop drinking coffee after I woke from my 7/11/03 issue. Still dry. Don't miss it. No more regular coffee for me either. Heart disease is the reason I can't drink caffinated drinks anymore. So it's decaf coffee for me these days. I get the glass jar of Tasters Choice decaf and only drink one cup. I put a lot of coffee mate creamer in it along with a teaspoon of pure honey and two splendas. I quit smoking many years ago. Before that I was a coffee addict and smoked like a chimmney. Glad that I kicked the habit in 1994 or I would be dead by now.

I love the smell of coffee, however, I think it tastes like cigarette butts and burnt water. LOL, I never aquired the taste. Adding lots of cream and sugar helps LOL. I still have to sweaten the pot. They say that adding a pinch of salt to the coffee grounds if you brew the coffee helps damped the acid taste of the coffee. I saw that on Last Man Standing on time. I guess it's true.
