i use ground blinds due to a knee replacement. but thought about trying a tree stand and just being very careful. would that be an advantage? just wondering what some of you experienced hunters think. thanks for any input.

I own both , but I'm partial to my pop-up ground blinds . Advantages: 1)You can move more 2)You don't need camo 3)Your scent is somewhat more contained 4)You can uses a heater on cold days 5) Rain , snow , and cold breezes are not a factor 6) Nobody ever died from falling out of a ground blind 7)Pop-ups weigh less than almost any tree stand 8)Portability 9)Take little skill to set up
The biggest advantage that a tree stand has is range of visibility , you can see much farther from 15-30 feet up a tree than you can from the ground . Disadvantages: 1)Falls from 25' or higher are usually fatal 2)Non-fatal falls usually leave you badly injured 3)Every cold breeze , and rain or snow storm gets you 4)You can get busted easily 5)Takes practice to use , and requires safety equipment 6)Camo selection/site choice are critical

I hunt from both, and prefer treestands for their visibility factor. Other than that I would feel much safer on the ground. They both have their place in every deer hunters bag of tricks.

I've got a few places where treestands can't be used. Then I get the pop up out.
The only thing I don't like about pop ups is the lack of visibility.
Pop ups are the greatest thing since night baseball for archery turkey hunting..

I disagree , Camby . I've had deer walk right up to my blind and check it out many times , once they saw that it wasn't gonna eat them they usually just went back to grazing .

I too have had deer close to my pop-up....but I have also had deer "lock-up" as soon as they spotted it.
This year during an archery hunt I had a doe just freeze at about 50 or so yards. She was up-wind with a steady breeze. She just kept cocking her head and kept looking, she never stomped or blew. After about 15 minutes, she slowly turned and WALKED back the way she came.
I have never seen a turkey react to the blind.
With that said, I have not hunted elevated in two years. All of my hunting for the last two years have centered around teaching my son, and I am not comfortable allowing him to sit by himself YET. Therefore, pop-up ground blinds are our best option.....currently.
