I went out the day after shotgun season thinking that most of the deer in my area would be some 30 miles away. Settled into my climber and started grunting. With about 20 mins left of shooting light I noticed some movement coming from the corn field. I watched as 7 deer (2 8's, 4 does and I could not make out the last one) walked single file down the trail towards me. I picked out the biggest 8 and waited for him to step into my 20 yard lane. As he stepped into my lane and I slipped the safety off and all of a sudden I see him swing his head around towards the field and then drop his ears back. I looked up and all I could see was tines coming. I have not had a case of buck fever in a few years but man did it set in. I used my range finders to verify that this was a pretty decent buck. He walked down the trail stopped made a scrape grunted and then peed in his scrape grunting again. He walked towards one of my 30 yard lanes and then turned walking towards me. I picked one of my best 20 yard lanes and waited for him to step into it. As he stepped into the lane he snapped his head up and looked right at me (I realized later that I was breathing so hard he must have heard me) too late as my bolt was already on its way. I heard that pleasant "smack" noise and he bucked up in the air. by the time his hoofs his the ground I could already see that my bolt had found its mark. He ran back towards the field and as he entered the field I watched him stagger and then do a backflip get up and then go down for the last time. Here is acouple of pics of my harvest;
