I NEED a 350 bolt gun since I probably wont be able to use my AR next season. I hate your thinking! Lol. I am reading a lot into what a potential AR14 ban could do. More often than not, they are saying there will be appeals forever that will stop any ban or confiscation, and the Supreme Court should rule it's a Constitutional right. AR14's may not be worth anything now? Maybe they are? I guess I could call around and ask if any gun shop would trade for a bolt gun? So, I guess if it doesn't work out, the least they can do is have a gun buyback on AR's and give me $1,500 a piece. I wouldnt be happy, but would probably bite in that scenario. You have an extra zero in that number. Buy back guns will be $150 each.

I bought a 350 legend bolt rifle today too lol What one did you get? The Ruger Ranch. I wanted to try the Winchester XPR but Buds online had the Ranch and it was just easier to ship it to Uncle Lee's in Greenville, KY (a Buds affiliate). Side note: I got the email alert for that rifle, well over a week ago, thinks are starting to sit on shelves longer.

I saw Grant woods did some product placement with a gator. Like why would you shoot a gator with a 350 legend, swamp people guys do it with .22 all day.

Probably because he got paid to do it. I've seen empty .17 HMR casings bounce around in the boat too on the show.

I took a fat doe with a 350 Legend last season. It's a BCA 18" barreled complete upper on a hand made lower with a Simmonds 8 Point 4x12x40 scope. I was shooting the 180gr Winchester Super X Power Point 350 Legend. She field dressed out at 128#, that's a lot of good eating.

I zeroed and figured out the dope on my ruger american today with my reloads using the hornady 165 ftx.
I think I'm around 2200 fps which is a little slower than factory hornady and 25-150yds is all within an inch.
Drops off about 2 inches at 175yds and 6 inches at 200yds.
Not sure if it was me but the groups actually start to close past 100. I was shooting moa at 100 and sub moa at 150 beyond.
Didn't shoot at 125 cause it seemed like a waste of ammo

Might be the twist rate is a wee bit fast for that bullet/speed combo. With some guns like that it takes a while for the bullet to "go to sleep".
Like a top that is spinning too fast, it wobbles, then stops wobbling once it slows down RPM wise.

As I stated elsewhere, (probably this thread) I was unhappy with the performance of soft points. Specifically federal powershocks. So this year I hand loaded the Hornady 165gr FTX into some virgin starline brass. I used Lil gun powder but I don't know the measurement off hand. I believe these are traveling around 2200fps, so a little slower than factory. I recovered this one between the hide and muscle just above the brisket. Deer was shot at 15 yards, quartering away. He was probably quartering a little harder than I thought because the bullet broke 8 ribs and decimated the left lung. It retained 91% of its original weight. I forgot to measure its current width.

I've taken 3 deer with the Win Deer Season XP 150 gr and performance seems to be okay. Two were high shoulder and they dropped immediately with one requiring a second shot. The third was double lung and he only ran about 20 yards. Lots of blood at impact site but there was 5-10 yards of very small drops.
