I've used a few different brands of lights over the years for tracking deer including a propane lantern. The only lights I hadn't tried are the blood finding lights or the handheld spot lights. My long track of the triple brow buck last muzzleloader season hand be less than impressed with both my flashlights. Both had short life spans and one got really hot after just a couple minutes of continual use. Although I do use a headlamp getting into and out of the stand, I didn't prefer them for track jobs just because it's too hard to focus with them. Anyhow, just curious what other folks are using or if there is a certain light that you simply won't go into the woods without.

I've bought a few new ones for my elk hunt. I'll give a report on them when I get back. I bought a Bushnell rechargeable last year that I really like.

I just use a cheap headlamp from Walmart. If it turns into a long track though, the spotlights usually come out.

I got the biggest one, and ABSOLUTELY love it. It was $54. Plugs into a USB port, so can use a phone charger or battery pack in a pinch. They had one size down for awhile that was rechargeable too, but I waited hoping for clearance, and now there aren't any around.

I bought 2 streamlight headlamps for Colorado. One was rechargeable for $70 and the other takes batteries and was $27.

It's amazing how far light and battery technology have come. My $20 headlamp from Walmart runs on 3 AAAs, probably weighs 2-3 ounces, and is far superior to the heavy "wheat light" I carried on a belt as a kid out coon hunting.
Disclaimer, wheat light was probably a few decades old when I inherited it.

Tracking? What’s that? 😂 the last dozen I’ve shot with my Matthews either dropped where they stood or ran 20 yards and bled out, but then again I use a gold tip hunter xt 250 with 200 grain broadhead so that’s pretty much dropping the hammer on a deer, lights out. A blind man could find my blood trail. But I will say I LOVE coast headlamps. The HL7 lasts forever and the HL4 is nice with a red light option.

My lithium Dewalt flashlight rides in the truck with me all season. It may be a bit bulky but it will last all night long and still have life left on it on a tracking expedition. I also use an led headlamp.
Those of you who have used a bloodlight, how well has that worked for you? Just curious.

I just bought a Nitecore HC65 headlamp. Have not been able to use it in action yet, but it has a lot of features and great reviews. Believe it cost $75

Feenix headlamps. Love mine. I looked at those but ended up going with streamlight. I'd still like to get one to test out. Is yours rechargeable or does it take batteries?
