tradarcher17,
It was a cedar tree that was cut down. No need for concrete. Two feet deep using a post hole digger is plenty deep enough.

What I like to do is cut a WHITE pine tree or limb no smaller than the diamter of a coke can, preferably bigger and about 8 or 9 feet long. I then dig a hole about 2ft deep and plant this limb or "Post" in the ground. White pine does not dry out as fast and holds scent more. I then take a machetee and make a rub on that pine limb/Post. For my mock scrapes I like to use a grapevine or a red oak branch. They like something stiffer than a rope. Plus these are natural. I don't think you need any scent either, I just pee in the scrape to get it started. All deer will hit the grapevine, even does and fawns. In no time you will have all kinds of deer scent on the vine. They lick it and rub their eye glands and forehead on it. That is why I like a stiffer vine or limb.

I ran into some Whitetail Institute "no till" mix on clearance. So I grabbed a bag and reseeded our food plots where it was lacking. Good timing to find it between a good rain, cooler weather, and more forecasted rain this week.

Same here, only 1/2" total thus far over 2-3 days that were supposed to be rainy. The yard has greened up quite a bit however.
Cut in a good access trail to a stand yesterday and marked it with bright eyes.

Took off a couple of hours this a.m. to get equipment put away and secure stuff for upcoming weather. The wind forecast is for gusts to 50 mph, and rainfall in my area from 2"-4". Sprayed couple clover plots for grass , and another for broadleaf. It is amazing how quickly everything is coming back and turning green after this week's rains.

Evening Gents, will be home next week. Is there anything I could plant next week that would possibly grow for November? Figured I would ask the experts, Cale, In. Near Bedford...SF Woody

I wanted to mow all our trails this week but that didn't happen. Just not enough time with work and all the running we had to do. I checked our double stand set up and had to drag a dead ash tree off the trail. I'm washing our hunting clothes right now. I'm about as ready as I can get for youth weekend.

Bedford feed and seed has got it for $22 a bag. Better call and make sure they’ve still got it in stock.

That one bag will do LOTS of 10x10 spots… just make sure you’re not planting in the way of your entrance and exits. Cereal rye would be my one plot seed if I had to pick justttt one!

We’re all sick but my youngest insisted we “DO DEER STUFF” today and my oldest agreed lol I let them throw some seed and I pulled a card at the no till and single spray “Pipeline Plot” that I cleared around a month ago. We were only there 20 minutes or so, but it got us out of the house and they were pleased. lol Made it home in time for naps and this wind storm to roll in! youtube.com/shorts/FUTtNt2uTm8?feature=share

Was hoping this rain for the week would help my little food plot, but it must be too late as I checked it yesterday and it’s about done for. Little rye and clover popping up but not much at all. That stuff has been up for a couple weeks now.

That stuff has been up for a couple weeks now. The seeds that didn't germinate and that didn't get eaten (that's why I want to somehow get a drill) should still germinate if enough moisture is present.
