The S S BADGER ferry which has been in business since the early 50's moving people,freight and vehicles from Ludinton, Michigan to Manitowok,Wisconsin several times a day. Up until a few years ago it was still burned coal. www.ssbadger.com/about/history/Here is a view that most will never see.

The S S SPARTAN was a railroad Ferry that is now permanently grounded in the Harbor at Ludington. As we head out of Ludington to go fishing in the dark of predawn we go right by this faded black and rusted old monster that looks pretty spooky. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Spartan

I took the Badger from Ludinton to Manitowoc a number of years ago when they were working on 94 around Gary. Took about the same amount of time as I had to go over towards Green Bay and would have been sitting in traffic for hours.
