and golf. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_EWatched this today and you talk about MAXIMUM boredom. At least with combustion engines when the noise stops that means there is either a YELLOW FLAG or the race is oved. I didn't even know they were racing for the first 15 laps. SHOOT ME!

Caught part of a Formula E race a few months ago. I thought it was interesting. Not as much technical data as I would have liked as a new viewer, but I suppose the details are available online if I get the time to satisfy my curiosity about them.
I only occasionally watch any Formula Anything racing any more, but was a moderate fan briefly a dozen years or so ago.
Seemed more familiar than extremely strange, I thought. The whine of the electric motors replacing the louder scream of the ones using the fossil fuels and oxygen seemed like a reasonable trade-off. I think it's more likely to be beneficial to the rest of the motoring public to have the best minds in racing working on getting more horsepower hours from the batteries rather than further development of those screaming 10,000+ rpm exotic fuel burners.
I still watch Nascar, too, but I'd be more comfortable with it if they could give up the "tradition" of wasting more fuel and poisoning more air with the completely useless displays of contempt for the environment that follows the checkered flag. And I think I'd like the racing more if they went back to about half the horsepower and reduced the aero effects. To me, the races now seem more like airplanes racing at ground level, with the streamlining and down-force and side-drafting being determining factors, and deal-making with your fellow same-brand partners becoming necessary. Too much like an episode of "survivor", with all the backstage dealing and making allies.
Oh well, they'll probably do just fine without going back to the way I liked it, and the safety advances made in the last generation or so have been outstanding.
Wonder what e-nascar races would sound like and look like. Maybe a guy could sit in the stands and watch one without even needing earplugs or headphones.

Might need to get used to it. Nascar I heard is down 30% the last 3 years. Worse than baseball and football. I guess a lot are like me. I don't like the stop 1, stop 2 and then end. Cars restrictions. They need to make larger race tracks and longer loops so slow speed restrictions are removed. Need to go back to racing.

I wish Nascar would go back to the "gotta make 100 car bodies for sale to the public before you can use the body in a race" format. Get away from the cookie cutter bodies with different badges and back to the stock bodies that they are supposed to represent.
Droopy nose winged Superbirds, Talladega Torino, etc.

To me, nothing is more mindless and boring than soccer. I was not around it growing up, so I guess that's why I think it's the stupidest sport this side of hockey. Several years ago IU was #1 and Louisville was not far behind. They had a game in Louisville and a few buddies talked me into going. I only went because I knew there would be beer and wings afterwards. We nearly froze to death and after 90 minutes of agony the score was a blistering 0-0. The game was headed to overtime and I was headed to the bar. I was driving and it was not up for discussion.

I tried to be a race fan but it was like watching paint dry for me. I have not watched a race in 15 yrs I bet.
Soccer is a torture test. Only time I have watched it was my kids play when they were 6 and 8 yrs old.

We need to go back to 70’s/80’s style racing, where there was only 1 to 4 cars on the lead lap at the end of 70% of the races.................said no sane race fan SMH

To me watching sports is like watching porn. I can watch it, but I would rather be in the game.
