Saw this on the news... I think a day at the range may be in order for the husband. Intruder

I don't know that range time would help this guy...
Shoot 39 times (with a pistol, so he had to reload a couple of times) and the women survived.
Wow...

Waynes
The only stories I see out of this is...
The guy can't shoot worth a flip.
People hopped up on drugs can take a lot of punishment.

The way this guy apparently shoots, hitting someone between the eyes probably would have taken a couple of hundred rounds before he might of "made" that shot...

Have any of you guys shot at a person? Especially one you know and love? During SIMS training one scenario is you and your partner are arresting a guy on a warrant and his 10ish year old daughter steps out of the truck with a shotgun. Even after the partner was shot, I've seen gius empty a magazine painting an outline of her silhouette and never hit her.
It's not as easy as some imagine to put a bullet in another human for every person out there.

If trained officers can't make the shot, one would think that you figure "joe/jane average citizen" probably couldn't either (as evidenced by the "39 shot" guy). Am I right?

Then there is this..
Wyatt Earp is remembered as being one of the most prominent figures in the taming of the American West. Born in 1848 in Illinois, Earp had a frontier spirit at a young age. ... Asked numerous times about his amazing ability to win gunfights, Earp was often quoted as saying, "Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything."

Is his life worth more than the 10 year old girl's? That's an entirely different conversation though.

That's not the way I'm reading it.... Regardless, (and with all teasing aside about the guys 39 shots), I hope I never have to deal with something like this. I would imagine every bump in the night will keep that family up.

This training was the initial 40 hour pre-basic for a group of reserves. It's a quick way to give them real life feel to what they might face in the field. And the ability to learn from mistakes instead of die from them.

I don’t think he wanted to kill her and the multiple shots were to scare her. You don’t “scare” folks hopped up on drugs.

38 bullets bounced off, but one between the eyes is the only way to stop evil. It's like a blind spot.

This person was a intrunter trying to kill a family.... what part am I missing? I didn't read it, I heard people talking about it at work and I thought someone said it was his wife/girlfriend not an intruder. Doesn't change the fact that some people, even those who profess to carry for protection, just don't have it in them to kill somebody. Guns are not the universal answer just like they aren't the universal problem. It's people's mindset. Personally, I carry constantly and redundantly, but by no means do I need a gun to terminate a hostile situation.
