It may very well be the "most advanced hunting arrow ever made", but is it really necessary?
Apparently the author answered that question in the first line...
Truth is, it's mind blowing the amount of money people spend chasing the "most advanced" (enter item here) today.
Case in point...
I have a buddy who purchased a Ravin29 a week or so ago. He shot it twice, but the target he had was allowing the bolts to bury too deeply, so he bought another target. When I was up there this past weekend he brought out his fancy new crossbow and wanted me to shoot it. Well...he cocked it,and loaded one of his $10.00 per bolts. I aimed and tried to pull the trigger...nothing. He let it down, cocked it again, nothing. This goes on 3 or 4 more times.
He gets on the internet to get a copy of the owner's manual (because you don't get one in the packaging). Nothing. He watches a couple of videos on youtube. Nothing. He tries a couple more times. Nothing. He calls the dealer he bought it from, we drive 30 minutes over there, they tell him it's a problem with the "carriage" (or something), and they'll have to ship it off to Ravin. No refund, no exchange. The $3,000 crossbow (including all the extra goodies he bought) that he shot twice...has to go back to Ravin.
Then to top if all off, he asks how long the normal turn around time is and they tell him this time of the year, it might be "a while"...
On the way home he tells me how he'll likely never trust that crossbow when he's hunting with it...
What a $3,000, high tech, expensive pain the a$$.
But I'm quite sure it's one of the "most advanced" xbows ever made...

Just talking to a retired CO the other day about antler craze/technology. He just shook his head and said it’s sad what deer hunting has become. I gotta agree.

That is a good looking arrow. I still shoot carbon express out of my compound but know those fmj's have a huge following. The minute we allowed crossbows for everyone and hpr for everyone, we as a state just gave in to technology and $$$. I miss the quiet of the archery woods. I'll still be out with my Mathews and trying to get the girlfriend her first firearm deer with my old knight muzzleloader. You can still do it your way!

You may not like crossbows and hprs, but the truth is, deer hunting equipment had gotten way expensive before then. Case in point...that Mathews bow you are carrying around isn't exactly a bargain item... Things got out of hand, when trophy hunting took over deer hunting. That's the bottom line IMO.

I agree. I look at it as another option in the bag of tools to use. I would much rather have it this way then say slug gun only again!

I never thought we would get hpr in a million years! Just glad our great state is pro hunting and pro gun to keep pushing forward.

I don't believe we moved from "Slug only " because of any so called "antler craze"...... I believe it was a "I want craze " The crazy amounts of money spent on leasing, food plots, atv/utvs, guns, bows, scopes, cameras, minerals, camo, etc is (IMO) done so in pursuit of the ultimate "I want"...which is a trophy buck. It sure as h*ll isn't being spent with the goal of killing a doe or a small buck. And no, I'm not taking a high horse position on the subject. I'm guilty of it myself to some degree, and I'm honest enough to admit it. And to get back to the original question... Are these Easton FMJ arrows the most advanced hunting arrow ever made? I have no idea, but since people are apparently willing to pay $15.00 per arrow for the privilege of shooting them, I would say that Easton has definitely come up with a cash cow for themselves...

I wouldn't lump everybody in one size fits all!

Greghopper
I'm not talking about kids, first timers or meat hunters, so I stand by my statement.
Trophy hunting for big antlered bucks drives the industry, and people wouldn't be spending the crazy amounts of money they do on "deer" hunting if it didn't.

I think your be surprised the money people will spend just to kill a deer..... Trophy Hunters have actually helped the sport IMO! I rather be neighbors with a trophy hunter then someone that shoots every deer they see! To each his own I guess....

Those are some fancy arrows. I killed a deer with a bamboo arrow that I got in a pack of tomatoe stakes from Walmart for a few bucks. It didnt make it 75 yards after the shot. The latest high tech gear isn't needed to kill a deer. Practice and shot placement are more important in my opinion. However, I will be shooting some FMJ carbon shafts out of my longbow in Colorado this fall. I bought a half dozen used shafts at a trad event for $20.

Greg,
In the end, I don't think we're that far apart on many things. But I still stand by my statement...

Agree, disagree or agree to disagree. It's all good.
Have a nice day.

Tapered arrows are really nothing new. I can't remember the name but there were tapered carbon arrows out several years ago. I have a couple somewhere,,,,,I think.

I'll bet the traditional bow shooters said the same thing about compound bows when they came out. Freedomhunter, why do you use a compound and not a long bow or recurve for all your bowhunting?
