Hey guys I saw where some of you are making your own bolt/arrow boxes. My xbow shoots a 16 inch bolt so I found a metal tool box today in good shape at a rummage sale for 3 bucks it measures 8x20 and about 8 high where the foam would go so I should be able to stack quite a few bolts in it. Now my question is what kind of foam are you using and where do you get it. I went to the local Menards store today and they had no clue what I was talking about.

jh45gun:
Did you get the foam yet? The foam should be high density and feel somewhat firm. This will keep them in place even if the box falls. I got my foam from Wal-Mart for very cheap in the pillow section. I got good firm memory foam sponge $2.00 for a 12 by 12 in. or so block. Cut to fit then slice down into them 1 1/2" apart stopping 1 1/2" from bottom. I used two sided carpet tape to hold the blocks of sponge foam in place. I can slide bolts up and down in these slots very securely. I keep the blocks of sponge 2" from broadhead and 2" from fletching. This is very cheap to do.

Well they did not have any and we have a brand new walmart super store here. I know that every wallyworld is different so I guess I will have to look for a junk chair or couch and take the foam cushion off of one of them but I was looking for some denser foam than that. It just is not available I guess around here. Jim

I have also found different Wal-Marts selling different stuff, sorry dude. The foam sponge I got is very nice and cheap too. I'm sure you will find a substitute. I would try to keep it firm though. Sorry, I tried, and you cant have mine. ;D ;D

Well I had some flat half inch stuff that was ribbed that was for putting in a window for a air conditioner to help seal the window it was about 8.5 inches wide and I suppose about 20 long. I cut it into 3 to 4 inch strips and trimmed it to fit the box and put my arrows in layers using this. Not as good as what I wanted but it will work.
