As a member; I’m sure starting to wonder about the NRA. Thoughts?

It appears to me that some of the NRA staff (and likely a good number of NRA members) want LaPierre out and the power struggle is on...

Finances looking shaky; don’t be surprised if this doesn’t lead to court cases. Hate to see this but a shake up seems to be in order.

You see it in any larger organization....struggle for power, authority and control and at times the misuse of that. It gets just as dirty and underhanded as our government....that's why I try to steer clear of work place politics and the like. I have no interest in that stuff....just let me do my job.
The concern for me is that this weakness is going to make the anti-gun wolves circle....

I'd say it's a safe bet that the NRA's troubles (both real and imagined) will be utilized by the media and the Democrats during the 2020 election cycle...

If the dems don't try to use some sort of angle on this for their 2020 election bid I will be floored.

Like a lot of Non-Profits the salaries at the top have gotten out of hand. I have been talking with a guy that is very active in the shooting sports and has some knowledge of the problems.
I think part of the problem is LaPieere's salary and some of the "benefits" he receives. This was part of what North was trying to stop. All who supported him are in line to lose their jobs.
An item that has concern for me is that of the NRA losing the not-for-profit status. A year or 2 ago they tried to roll out a concealed/self defense insurance. They booted the USCCA? out of the convention exhibits. Since insurance is very regulated it was not done in a correct way. Some states have lawsuits ongoing about this.
Loss of the not-for-profit would have several tax consequences for the NRA. Think property taxes on the headquarters and on the Wittington Center.
I really hope they get this mess sorted out and get on track for 2020.

My biggest problem the NRA is founded by the British NRA. Maybe this BNRA will end and an USANRA form.

I have never agreed with Lapierre’s message delivery methods. Just like Trump and Matt (Ky Gov.) Bevin, I agree with most of what they say, but not how it is said.
I also think that the NRA has gone too “corporate.” It’s become more about fancy suits and politics than hunting and shooting. I liken it to my college fraternity. The headquarters was formerly located at a sacred estate outside of Vincennes. About 15 years ago the brass decided to move the headquarters to Nashville so there would be more of a corporate presence and better acces to a major air hub for the executives. I cut all financial contributions immediately. I’m still la loyal brother at heart, but that’s it. Jevo, if there’s anyone out there.

Wayne was accused of spending too much on his own things. I'm not a member of the NRA due to things like this. Oliver North was accusing Wayne of over spending and now he is out. All this infighting is hurting the NRA IMHO. And they need to take the money from the member's due and spend them on fighting for our gun rights not new suits for the President or CEO of the NRA.

By law they cannot use dues money for political things and lobbying for legislation. The NRA-ILA does that through donations. It is never explained adequately to members.

Here's a link to a group spearheaded by high powered donors of the NRA that apparently want LaPierre out... helpsavethenra.com/

Just before reading this post I watched the video embedded in my NRA Member email showing Wayne LaPierre reaching out for support. Decent video with the heart cry for supporters of the Second amendment to “stand together!” Not sure what I think. I’m still a member, but some days I wonder about the future of the NRA.
