For you farmers out there - how long can this wet business go on before it is just too late to plant? The forecast is for another week of high rain chances. Around here, almost every field has not even been sprayed down yet, just full of wild mustard. What happens if they can't get into the fields until, say, the middle or end of June?
I have heard of 90 day corn etc., but I don't know anything about farming

It is going to be a late harvest that’s for sure and that makes deer hunting rough. Thousands of more acres of cover for them to hide in. I know that’s the last thing the farmers care about but an obvious side effect.

June 10th for corn. Realistically, any corn after June 1st yields go down every day. Soybeans will be alright until the end of June. July 10th or so is "drop dead" time for everything. I am no longer farming and my ground is now leased on shares. Less than 5% of the crop is planted in Clay county.

I live in Central IN farm country. 95%+ of the fields have not been planted. Corn and bean prices are moving up as they price in a shortage. In 22 years I have never seen it this wet. Hay prices will skyrocket

you won't see much corn planted after the first week of June. I know hay is going to be at a premium. I've never seen it like this is central Indiana, great time to need to finish my yard grade.

I live in the southern part of the state and have noticed that even though we are 10" above normal for rain @ this point in the year, we have had a bit of a break from the heavy rains during the last three weeks and this has allowed farmers to get some of the bean and corn fields around me in and they are just coming up now.

I'm dry. Been watering my new grass for two weeks. Only turned it off once. Same areas getting most of the rain. Only a trace yesterday and nothing for a week. Hopefully, this Wednesday we get some. Farmers are planted around here.

Just got 2.7" from the storms in NE LaPorte county. We are saturated. Been hammered over and over, but we are on high ground.
NE Starke and NW Marshall are flooded out. Standing water in all the woods and low lands. Nasty with mosquitoes!

Lots of dirt and dust stirring in my area this morning.... I plotted over the weekend and just worked around the standing puddles.....farmers don;t have that luxury. We have some corn up all ready as well.

They haven’t even sprayed my fields for weeds yet. But, some have corn or soybeans coming up already.

I drove from Merrilville to Sellersburg yesterday and from Lafayette to Seymour looked like maybe 10% of the fields had been touched.

Pretty wet here. Couple of farmers that I talked to said that it looks like they will be very happy that they have insurance - June 10th, maybe June 20th is the cutoff date for them, and they said it isn't looking good. One said he planted beans late in 1996 (I believe) and said it almost bankrupted him - 25 bu/ac wasn't near enough. But at the time he didn't think insurance was worth it, so it was either that or nothing. He thinks otherwise now.

Hopefully, that Bermuda high pressure moves off the southeast coast soon. I still remember year after year getting the summertime Bermuda high pressures. We used to call it the ring of fire.

Getting absolutely pummeled with rain and lightening in NE LaPorte county again. I about swamped my little work car on the ride home. This was the most standing water I ever came thru in over 16yrs here. Places where there has never been water was flooded bad.

Still raining in Starke County this am. I am on sand and have standing water. Tried to mow a bit yesterday and was throwing out more water from the mowing deck than grass clippings. At least we've had a few days where the rain is at night or later on in the evening so the whole day isn't a washout.

Well, I was able to mow most of the place yesterday evening, even though the mower left muddy tracks in the grass in many areas. An apple tree was tipped over by the storm the previous day or so, and a few peach trees don't look so good after our -20°F winter, so I will be ordering replacements.
I had high hopes for today when I let the dog out at 5:00 am and the sidewalk and porch was dry. When she came in her back was wet and I looked at the radar. So much for high hopes..... Its been raining ever since with some heavy downpours, we've had slightly more than 1/2" so far, and there is standing water between the 3" high corn that was planted recently - and this is sandy ground here.

Just heard from a good source that a large farming operation based nearby has 6,000 acres to plant and have planted a whopping 35 acres. Rained again this morning.....
