Was shooting in the basement today just to have some fun. I have 18 yards to shoot. Getting 2.5" groups all morning. Xbow is zeroed at 20 so I have to aim 3" low to hit bulls off a rest. No rest still hit bulls but not as many. Decide to try a 10 yrd. practice without rest. Bolt hits target and knocks down foam bolt hits ground and broke. Oh well I did hit a bullseye. What a dummy! Just goes to show these things are not a toy but a real powerfull weapon. Exaliburs rock!!

I guess there is a lesson in there somewhere eh?
I try to do my practice at thirty yards, which is also the max. range approx. that I will take game at with my excal. Never more than 35 yd. period. Watch it in practice, that is where most of the costs appear with crossbows, i.e.: robin hoods, broke bolts, pass throughs, it all adds up. On the hunt it's usually only one maybe to bolts ever.

Thanks for the concern. I've never missed the target but should probably practise outside. Only thing is I live in town don't think nieghbours would like it. I usally practise at 20-40 yards but always do a 20 yard and in session as you never know when this shot comes up and you should know exatly how your xbow performs at all huntable distances. I'll practise right down to 5 yards.

You already practice more than I do , don't rub it in . The heat of late has been keeping me out of the yard , has it affected anyone else ?
