I just finished catching Ted Nugent's Spirit of the Wild show on the Outdoor Channel on Dish.
Tonight's program title???
"Crossbow Hunting the African Oryx!!!"
Seems Ted has embraced the horizontal bow himself and has picked up Excalibur Crossbows as a sponsor. Took a nice treestand shot down through a good sized 40" Oryx.

Great I wondered what he would think about them since he is such a bow hunter maybe this will be a plug that the crossbow needs. I for one like the Nuge for his pro hunting stance and any one who plays a guitar like he does cannot be all bad. I also respect him for trying to get kids involved into the sport of hunting. Jim

Gander Mountian "We Live Outdoors" had a real neat crossbow episode a month or so back.
It was about a Gander Mountian associate and his father on a archery hunt. The associate (son) was hunting with a compound and the dad was useing a crossbow. The dad was a dyed in the wool archery guy that had dropped out for several years ... untill he discovered the crossbow.
It was sure neat seeing the farther / son getting togather for a hunt.....Priceless!!!!

Letter from Ted, to NY Bowhunters....
Re: Hunting with crossbow From: Ted Nugent Date: 03 Mar 2004 Time: 22:10:58
Comments Greetings to my fellow hands-on conservationists & SpiritWild BloodBrothers of the mystical flight of the arrow in New York. I salute each of you for continuing this honorable outdoor lifestyle as epitomized by the ultra-connection unique to our closerange hunting choice. Is bowhunting the greatest or what? During this cultural war in America against all shooting sports, particularly bowhunting, it is imperative that each of us unite to let the world know how our wildlife management demands have succeeded in returning our precious renewable wildlife resources to historical record highs. Everyone desires health and balance in the wild as inescapable barometer of our air, soil and water quality of life. That being said, I implore you all to seriously consider on all intellectual levels how important it is to recruit new conservationists to our cause. By legalizing the crossbow for disabled and or elderly sporters is simply a positive step forward, not only in quality outdoor ops for our disabled BloodBrothers, but as a loud and proud message to all that we as a hunting community know how to retain hands-on value for wildlife and outdoor opportunities for everyone while bringing balance to the land. Together we can strike a blow for our God given rights to hunt, fish, trap and own guns in America while bringing quality upgrade for our disabled friends. Godbless, Godspeed and good hunting to all, American BloodBrothers, Ted Nugent
