I know everyone has there preferred way of hunting and that weather and bird cooperation have a big role in how we pursue mr turkey. This morning it is foggy so i chose to sit on the high ground and do a little calling. But my favorite is probably being mobile and running and gunning to get on a gobbler in the morning

Mornings are spent listening prior to fly down and going after any bird that gobbles in hopes of setting up close at fly down. If that doesn't pan out it's go after any bird that is gobbling on the ground.
That was the exact plan this morning...we got close to him in roost but once he hit the ground he decided to go the other direction. We went after him and caught up to him a few hundred yards later strutting and gobbling in the woods. Terrain allowed me to sneak to within 30 yards and Mr tom got to ride home in the truck.
I've never really been a decoy and blind type of Hunter.
Next year my boy will try for his first bird and it'll likely be from a blind

As long as they are gobbling i like to get after em. That being said when they go through spells where they are quiet, like it seems lately, i like to set up deeks, call occasionally, and wait em out. That of course is easier said than done if the fish are biting, mushrooms are popping, or have honey do list lol
