I know this information may not interest some of y'all on here but I see a few Indiana tags around this area every deer season . I've been trying to find out crossbow use information at the Land Between the Lakes recreation area . Woodys been giving me moral support as I posted this question on another site . I received a e-mail today from LBL with the following information: Kentucky portion : If you have a hunting methods exemption form from the KDF&W and it is signed by your doctor you can use a crossbow during general archery deer season on the Kentucky side of LBL. Tennessee portion : Crossbows are legal for anyone to use throughout the general archery deer on the Tennessee side of LBL . General Archery Deer Season opens September 24 and closes January 16 for Kentucky and Tennessee portions of LBL . They do close archery down one day before and one day after Quota Gun Hunts . You would need to check these hunt dates for the portion you plan to hunt . This information has been a little confusing since LBL lies in two states . Kentucky has postponed their crossbow expansion this year and Tennessee has passed their expanion into archery deer season . To those not familiar with LBL ... the area consist of 170,000 acres to hunt with relatively light pressure and I beleve has the best potential as far as public ground goes to harvest 130" or better deer . The deer are smart though .... you have to do your homework .

Thanks JD ... I'm glad it worked out for you.. You never know when one of us crossbwers might like to head on down there. I haven't hunted LBL in years. Last time I did was on a quota hunt and lost a nice fallow buck to a guy from Tennessee..

I guess I'm promoting tourism in Kentucky but as Woody stated you never know when you might want to give it a try . I would also add the cost to hunt either portion of LBL .
Kentucky : Non Resident Liscense = $115.00 Deer Tag = $25.00 Fall Archery Turkey= $15.00 (crossbow hunting methods exemption required)
Tennessee : Non Resident / Annual =$251.00 Non Resident / 7-Day =$175.50 Big Game Archery = $28.00 (crossbows legal for everyone )
LBL Hunter Use Permit = $25.00 (required for KY. or Tn. portions)
Check with either states Fish & Wildlife to verify the prices . You can camp in LBL or there are several motels in the area . Tennessee went up this year on license fees for non residents . Either way it can be a cheap hunt without driving very far . Just wanted to add this information to my post .
