I'LL DO IT WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER! You might be busy today. [/quote I did that 22 years ago on January 18 it got down to -10. After I got divorced I said it would be a cold day in hell before I did it again. Well I did it on that day. Lol Still married to the same beautiful women and don't regret a thing.

Last time I remember it being this cold I was in college at Indiana State (mid 90's)....they refused to actually close the entire campus so we had to trek across campus for every class just to see a note that class was canceled! We had a few days of it, just like this week....that got old real quick! What was the worst part about it was....nobody had clothes for those sorts of conditions. We had winter coats and the like...but nobody was prepared for zero temps and below zero wind chills to be out in that for 10 to 15 minutes at a time... We knew times where tough when we ALMOST ran out of beer because nobody wanted to go get more!

My coldest year was 1977 with 26 days below freezing and the Ohio river froze. I was 16 and I walked 1/2 way to to confirm I could cross and come back. 1978 was also cold with a blizzard with foot and half snow. Winds blow 50-70 mph. Just back in 2015 it was -12.
My coldest ever was in Lewiston, Maine (-43 below). Stayed bellow 0 for 30 days. I was working at a P&G plant.

I have a co-worker that is orignaly from Canada. We was talking about these cold temps and they made a comment about how if there was more snow it would be perfect "scadooing" weather. I also have an internet buddy who lives in upstate NY and they get on average 300" of snow a year! Which is just crazy to me. I guess it's a matter of what your used too. I like the snow and freezing temps are fine...this below zero and the winds in those conditions are the part I don't care for. I love a morning after a fresh snowfall over night and t's going to be bright and calm and about 25 to 30 degrees out....I like following the deer tracks then to see what they are doing.

Maybe I'm just use to the cold where I work or maybe it doesn't bother me. But I never do see why people flip out about a few cold days. My daughter is the same way as I am. She is taking her pre- vet at SMWC. And I think they closed classes today. But anyone with a major in equine was in the barn at 6a.m. just doing there thing.

I like just one week of sub freezing weather per year. Just enough to cut down on the bugs.

I prefer to do my outside project during the winter. As of last evening I have some of it covered in the last 2 inches of dirt. Over the last few days (weekend and evenings) I was able to put down gravel , drain pipe and gravel on top. Now I'm covering the last couple inches. Soon I'll be ready for seed and straw. When that is finished in the next week I'll be moving my garden. I like that I don't overheat and can work longer.

I don't freak out and actually want the freezing temps...it's natures way. I just don't like the real nasty stuff. A few days is fine...I just don't want to see sub zero highs and 20 to 30 mph wind with it for weeks or months on end. If I wanted that I would move to WI or MN!

I put on my new arctic lined Carharts, a fleece, and Carhartt coat to go feed and water the cows this morning. Sitting still would get old quick, but I was starting to sweat walking around.

I work in this weather every day be it cold or hotter than crap I just don’t see why myself either why people flip out over it , granted it is a bit colder than average but 5 degrees is not that uncommon around here yes it was below 0 I did see -16 but if your were out of the wind it was manageable

Temps where around 30 at the time. Dirt was frozen about 2 inches.

Waynes: Are you still working on that leaking water line? line is finished. Putting drain tile back in. I told my son not to fill all the way, but he forgot. I had to re-dig down to 12-14 inches. Never ending work. I think I'm a workaholic.

My daughter graduated from the equine program December 15th. She said she was glad because she was a barn team leader and had to cover anybody on her team that didn't show up. She worries about the horses but thankful she's done.
