Looked out to the bird feeder today to see if I needed to refill it, and out on the frozen lake about 200 yards away there were nine swans sitting in a little group!
We'd had two visit regularly most years, but it had been a couple years since their last visit. This group must have been tired, they are still sitting in the same spot where they were four hours ago.
While the wife and I were watching them through my old spotting scope, our eagle that has been hanging around the last couple years made a few passes over the lake. I think it was also checking out the swans, as it made a few fairly tight circles before going back in the direction of its normal roosting spot directly across the lake from us about 400 yards.
We're kinda getting into the bird feeding this year, and have had a few other unexpected visitors lately. I placed a spare window screen horizontally outside the picture window, and we had a possum come up and help himself to the seeds, chomping away while looking at us while we watched him from about six feet through the glass. He didn't seem to be very edgy. I even moved the pole lamp behind my chair to shed more light on him, and he just kept kept scarfing down sunflowers seeds.
We may be getting to the age where we're easily entertained, as we have spent more time watching the show nature is putting on outside now than the ones the networks are presenting on TV.

Better entertainment than TV or web.

Salt or fresh my brother has I think it’s 150 gallon saltwater tank it’s a cool tank he has the living coral rock and some cool looking fish in it and he’s says my hobby’s are expensive I know it was freaking heavy when I helped him move it in to his new house

Especially anything over a ten gallons.

They are fun. They're still out there, pretty much all the way across the lake right now. They finally left their spot mid-lake where they were this morning and walked a hundred yards or so single file to get to a stretch of open water near the bank. Swimming and apparently feeding now.
Wife caught a glimpse of the eagle crossing the lake again.
Yep. better than most stuff on TV for sure. Still looking forward to the Super Bowl, but not sure if I'll even watch the Daytona 500 this year. My interest in NASCAR has been waning these last few years. I usually just record them and skip through on double speed, faster through the commercials, backing up for the wrecks. Doing the same for the f'ball games most of the season, too. Watch an old western the western movie channel if I see one coming up that I don't already have memorized.
I've threatened to replace that flatscreen with an aquarium for years. Then I catch another good nature special on NatGeo, or some interesting Rinella hunts on Meateater and decide I'll keep it a while longer.

We just got notice that Comcast is raising our rate $50+ per month. About to dump it all together. Maybe I need an aquarium, too!!!

I don't like NFL or Nascar. Will not watch No Foul League and might watch the stop and go (3 winners) Nascar. I might watch after the 2nd stop. Nascar was my favorite to watch.
Keep watching live nature window monitoring.

I’d dump dish in a heartbeat if I didn’t get about 10 channels most of those are the learning nature and DYI and a bunch of the DYI shows are a bunch of BS shows about flipping houses and making 100,000 plus profit
I can tell ya I’ve done it for years and built new homes never once have I made 100 K profit I’ve done extremely well on some but never that good. Maybe I should go take lessons from them

The swans have left, we think. They had found one small area of open water near the opposite shore and hung around it the last few days, but we couldn't spot them yesterday or today. I suspect they caught wind of the forecast and went further south, but that's just my guess. I think if I had wings, I'd already be across the Ohio and probably approaching Tennessee.
